I put my curls up in a lose, messy bun. I made sure my make up was okay, which only consisted of mascara and lip gloss, and put on my pearls. I flattened the front of my dress and took a deep breath.
"You look pretty mom." Indiana said softly. I turned to look at her sitting on my bed. I smiled at her and hugged her.
"Momma will be out for a little while. Maggie is going to watch you. Listen to her and don't be a bad girl." I said. She nodded and hugged my chest.
"I love you mom."
"I love you too baby." I kissed her hair and closed my eyes, inhaling her scent. She pulled away and smiled up at me. The knock on the door had my stomach doing flips. I took a deep breath, taking one last look at myself in the mirror before going downstairs.
I opened the door and there stood Nathaniel, in all his glory. He had on some black slacks, a white button up shirt, and a black tie. He looked at me, checking me out before smiling. "You look pretty." he breathed out, walking closer and giving me a kiss on the cheek. I smiled and then turned back to look at Indy with Maggie.
"Be good and don't misbehave." I said in a strong voice. she nodded and smiled.
"Have fun momma." he said. I smiled and waved. I closed the door and followed Nathaniel to his car.
"I was thinking of having a nice dinner at my place and watching a movie afterwards." he said. I looked over at him and nodded.
"That sounds good." I said. It got silent after and it was awkward.
"So what do you want to talk about?" he asked once we had entered his house. I looked at him and shrugged. He watched me for a seconds, his hands in his pockets. "You are so beautiful." he said, pulling me towards him. "I know this might be a little too soon, but can I kiss you?" he asked me.
I looked in his eyes and nodded. He leaned in and I closed my eyes. His lips felt soft and warm against mine, yet they seemed eager. One of his hands made its way up to the back of my neck, while the other one stayed on my waist.
He bit on my lower lip for entrance, but I didn't give it to him. I pulled away, my breathing a little too quick and my face flushed. "Let's eat?" I said. He kissed me again and nodded.
He grabbed my hand and pulled me into the kitchen, where it was lit up with candles, making it more romantic. I stopped and looked at everything. Rose petals on the floor and on the table, and the food on silver plate. "Too much?' he asked, getting out a bottle of wine.
I smiled and shook my head. "No, it's just that no one has ever gone to this extent." I said honestly. He smiled and pulled out a chair for me. "Thank you." I said, taking a seat. He nodded and poured some wine in my glass.
Dinner was good, we had chicken Alfredo with fettuccine pasta. I had a great time and just coulnd't keep my eyes open for the movie. I ended up dozzing off in the beggining credits.
I woke up and found myself laying on the couch. I sat up and looked around, I had a small, silk blanket over me and my shoes had been removed. I looked on the floor for my purse and found it close to my feet.
I pulled it out and it read 1:47 AM. I grabbed my shoes and walked to the front door. I opened it silently, and slipped out into the warm September night. My phone vibrated and I looked at it. A message from Maggie.
Nia, I took Indi home, I thought you probably got to second base with the doctor. Hope you are having fun and I'll be watching Indy. Good night. -Mags
I started texting back, but then just shut my hpone. I could use a night with out Indy for once. I slipped pn my black Jessica Simpson peep toed heels and started walking back home. I was probably four houses down when I heard a noise behind me.
I stopped moving and listened harder. Nothing, just silence. I shook off the eery feeling I was getting and kept walking. My house wasn't too far away, there was no need to worry. And besides, Lemoore was a small city, nothing ever happened here.
I quickened my pace, not stopping at any noises I heard until I reached my house. I looked through my purse until I found the keys. "You didn't say goodbye." came a deep voice from behind me, making me scream in surprise.
I quickly turned around, holding my chest as my heart went sprinting. "You scared me." I said in a weak voice. Nathaniel was still wearing his clothes from earlier but he looked upset. "I'm sorry. I just didn't think you'd be up." I said, turning back to the door and unlocking it.
"Well I was awake." he sounded annoyed. I turned on the light and took off my shoes. "I could have given you a ride."
"Well I'll be sure to do that next time. Now I just want to go to sleep. Good night." I said, and closed the door on his face. I stood there, just watching the door before turning off the light and climbing up the stairs.
I quickly stripped off my clothes and jumped in bed, eager to get some rest.
