I thrash around, trying to escape the clutches of the mysterious enemy, but then I hear them exclaim, "Stop! Its me!"
They let go of me, and I turn around to face them.
It's Anna.
Her long black hair is tied back in a ponytail, and she has on a dark colored jacket and dark jeans. Her eyes glisten in the moonlight, a slightly frightened look on her face.
"Anna?", I ask, shocked, "How'd you get in here?"
"I snuck in. Where are the others?", she asks looking around the area.
"I got separated. They're with Eli, I think.""Who the hell is Eli?", she whispers, slight anger in her voice.
"He's...one of them. But-"
"What?!", she practically shouts, "Why the fuck would you trust him?! We're at war, David! I'm an adult, and even I make mistakes sometimes, but this is just insane!"
"Let's talk about this later. We have to find our friends", I insist, starting to walk away from Anna.
Anna pulls out a 9mm pistol and follows me, her eyes and ears alert. My dark gray hoodie and jeans is the only protection I have against the cold autumn air.
I keep my black handled switchblade close to my chest, ready to strike. As Anna and I sneak around the corner through a dark maze of shelves and containers, more gunshots ring out.
"Shit", Anna whispers before taking the lead.
We start to pick up the pace, determined to find the others.Loud, swift footsteps ring out as we approach another corner, and Anna and I ready our weapons.
The person gets closer, and when they stop in front of Anna and I we see that it's Cody.
The three of us both gasp loudly, surprised by Cody."Guys!", Cody pants, out of breath and his blonde hair sticking to his forehead from sweat, "I'm so fucking glad to see you!"
"Where's Theo and Matt?", Anna insists.
"I don't know. They're with Eli, I...I lost them", Cody tells Anna.
"Let's go find them!", Anna says loudly, breaking into a run.
Cody and I follow her through the dark, the moon shining a path for us."Wait", I exclaim, grabbing Anna's shoulder, "Where's Grace? Did she make it back?"
Anna and Cody both stop in their tracks. Anna tells me, "She's fine. She hid in the truck until I found her. DJ drove her back home. And..."
"And what?", I ask persistently.
"She told me to bring you back at all costs."
"You don't, "I tell Anna as Cody listens, "All I care about is that Grace is safe."
Anna is about to say something else, but she is cut off by a loud gunshot, like from the shotgun Theo got a hold of. The three of us break into another run and when we make our way around the corner we see Eli and our friends standing there.
The sword in his grasp coated with blood.
They turn around and see us, and when they do we can barely see the two corpses slumped on the concrete.
