Go On While No One's Looking....

Warm.

Soft.

Irresistible.

I almost didn't want to pull back. But I did. I only want Scott's lips to mine, no one else's.

I pulled back and starred daggers at him.

'I'm....."

"DON'T SAY YOU'RE SORRY!!"

I wasn't furious, I wasn't angry, I wasn't anything. I felt numb but that alone killed me. Silence passed between me and Mitch.

"You never make the same mistake twice. And besides, a mistake is messing coffee all over the floor, not this. I don't accept apologies after second 'slip ups'. So don't tell me you're sorry."

He stepped closer. "I love you, Elsa. I can't help it I just..."

I shook my head in denial. "If you love me, Mitch..."I looked straight into his eyes. "Leave me alone."

Mitch, stubborn headed Mitch, tried to make his next move when...

"Mitch?!"

Shit.

He jerked when he heard Scott's voice. I could see the anger in his eyes. In a split second Scott passed the food in his hands to Kevin and stormed out. I felt like I wanted to puke.

"No! No, Scott, wait!!" Mitch ran after him while I'm left drowning in the thought of losing him.

MY Scott.

------

I kept walking. I tried to walk all of the anger out of me. I heard footsteps behind me and I immediately knew it was Mitch. I walked faster to get away from him. Tears were on the brink of coming. He took Elsa.

MY Elsa.

"Scott, wait!!"

I stopped and turned around. "You promised, Mitch."

"I am in love with her, Scott, I can't..."

"No, you're right. You can't. Elsa is NOT yours to take." I said and walked without another word.

-----

I took my jacket and walked out the hotel and wondered around the streets of Chicago alone. I needed to get away and get my head straight. Clear my thoughts. Don't get me wrong, I love Scott without a doubt. But....

I step into a coffee shop and take a seat and order a skinny cappuccino. The whole scenario with Mitch plays over and over in my head. A replay of sincere regret. The waitress comes with my cup. I blow it to help it cool off and take a small sip and I begin to relax a little.

How could Mitch do this to me? How could he do this to Scott? His best friend?

How is it even possible that he fell for me in the first place? He's....

"Hi there." A voice cuts my train of thought. "Had a rough day?"

I look up to see a guy with brown eyes, short dirty blond hair and a million dollar smile.

"Hey, yeah, uhmmm...." I tried to find my words.

"Want to talk about it?" he asks.

He reaches his hand out to mine and I feel a chill down my spine. I'm scared. I'm cold. I pull away as quickly as I can.

"Uhm....."

He finally pulls his hands away from me but his eyes stay locked on me.

"I can take you somewhere to cheer you up..."

Listening to my instincts I slowly get up and try and make a run for it when I feel him grab my arm. I try to pull free but his grip is too strong. Before I could say anything he covers my mouth and my nose with his hand. Three, Two, One...

Lights out.

--------

Mitch is alone in the hotel wondering why he got himself into this mess. He can't get Elsa out of his head. He closes his eyes and breathes to calm himself down only to see Elsa's smile in his mind's eye. His eyes flash open.

Why, why, why.....?

Suddenly he hears footsteps coming towards the suite. The door swings open and Kirstie comes storming in. She stops at the window, looking out to the view in silence. Mitch can sense that something isn't right.

"Kirstie...?"

"I can't believe...." She mumbles.

"What? What is it, Kirstie?"

She turns to Mitch with tears begging to come out. "I think I just made a huge mistake..."

Suddenly the door opens and Scott comes in. His body language, speech, everything just screams fear.

"Guys, have you seen Elsa around?"

As if on cue, Mitch looks at Kirstie. "So that is what you meant..."

"Mitch, stop!" Kirstie snaps.

"Please just tell me if you know?!" Scott finally bursts out. Stunned, Kirstie shakes her head.

Scott moves out, and the door bangs closed behind him.

-----

Lights go on and I'm blinded by their brightness. After blinking more than three times my eyes adjust to them. I investigate my surroundings and the chills of fear run though me again.

"Well hello there." I hear a familiar voice. "I'm glad to see you're so eager to stay but unfortunately...I can't take that risk."

And with that my breathing gets limited once more and unconsciousness wins round two.

------

"Tell me."

"Scott, I honestly don't know where she is! Maybe she left and she's moved on without you. Maybe you should too."

Scott turns to her and looks straight into her eyes. "What did you say?"

"I...I said you should move on without her."

Scott shakes his head out of disgust and stares daggers at his friend. "How dare you decide who I love or don't?" he backs away and takes his jacket and reaches for the door.

"I'm going to find Elsa, with or without you."

"Scott, no, wait!!"

Kirstie's too late. He's has one mission on his mind and he won't stop until it's done.

--------

His phone rings on the table. He answers.

"Good news I hope?"

"He's on his way to find her."

He smiles a smirk of sweet victory.
