POV Daenerys Targaryen
Dany held her hand protectively against her stomach. What she had dreamed couldn't be real. It was impossible that she was pregnant. The witch had made that perfectly clear with her words. She had been with Daario before, and it had never happened. Her womb remained dry and withered, as if it could never carry life again. It was the worst part of being a woman and wanting to be a mother: not being able to, her body not allowing her to have children. Dany had always carried the weight of being the last Targaryen woman, the last of the bloodline capable of producing dragons, but that, now, was impossible.
Her eyes shifted to the sleeping man beside her. His face was completely relaxed, oblivious to the spiral of thoughts swirling within her. She had never allowed herself to dream of giving life again, never had she desired it so much as she did in this moment. Looking at Daemon, she could imagine the figures of their children, the boys or girls they might have. They would be beautiful and striking, good and with fire within them, true dragons. But it was a dream she could never achieve, wasn't it?
Although those symptoms...
"What's wrong, love?" Daemon's husky voice startled her. "Why is your mind screaming your thoughts all over the place?"
"Nothing, I just had a strange dream, lately I've been having them nonstop."
"What was happening this time?" He reached out and touched Dany's arm aff
She sat on Daemon's bare hips, resting both hands on his chest, observing him closely, from the smallest wrinkle to the smallest scar; he was a warrior, beautiful but with the weight of power on his shoulders.
"Rhaego visited me along with Drogo, they told me something impossible," her voice was low and cautious.
Daemon waited patiently as she continued to hold his hips with both hands, letting her thumbs lovingly caress his lower belly.
"They told me... They... They said they were happy for me, Rhaego, he was so beautiful and strong... He told me he was happy to give him his new siblings, he said I was pregnant." She looked up at Daemon with her gaze.
The man in question began to smile little by little, going from a mischievous smile to a big, toothy grin that made him look younger.
"I told you, Dany, only a dragon could give you what you desire most."
"But it's impossible, they told me I was cursed, and if I am they'll be stillborn, I know it."
"Love, it's your fear speaking, deep down you know it's different this time"
Dany stared intently at Daemon's face, anticipating any change in mood or any sign of discomfort at the possibility of her pregnancy. Instead, she was met with the radiant face of the man she loved. She began to giggle softly at the adoring gaze he was giving her. It was something she couldn't quite believe, at least not yet, but perhaps time would tell. Daemon cupped her face as he sat up, bringing his lips to hers with a smile. For a moment, only they existed in their bubble of happiness and uncertainty.
Dany noticed that when he separated, he seemed worried about something, as if something was going around in his mind.
"I need to tell you something, Dany, something important," the man whispered before her. Dany nodded gently, prompting him to continue. "Jon isn't just a nuisance because he's the King in the North. He didn't abandon you in the past because of who you were, but because of who he is."
