We started off from trew one of the only free Territories still left. My caravan and I had plans to pass the southern boundary for a resource collection mission. The southern border of Trew was the least compromised by Gargant forces. It wasn't that the Gargants couldn't find us held up in our small territories, it was that they could minimize casualties if they waited for us to run out of food. They filled the borders with soldiers in order to strangle us from the resources we needed.

Today was my first resource run, I thought I was prepared for what came next but I was dead wrong. I had been through years of rigorous training with my three squadmates Sidehook, Lesloth, and Sero. I hadn't known them before the black war, the war that shattered the earth. It lasted fourteen years, all fourteen years relentless conflict occurred.

I had grown really close to my squad mates since we began training. My parents and I fled our home country for Trew when I was ten, the war raged on for eight years after that. Today I'm eighteen years and and being thrown into a war I couldn't possibly win. To understand my stakes in this war ill start from the beginning. My parents worked for the united States government before this. When the war broke out they were asked to come to a military base somewhere in the southern United States.

The war burnt bright but unlike most bright burning fires it burnt for a very very long time. Local populations all over the world were being slaughtered by an organization that had been hiding in the shadows for decades planning their attack, growing stronger with every member. As Trew was built from the ground up the leader of the city flaunted nuclear weapons the base still had active to detere the Gargants from invading.

A small victory for the last free members of the world. Though its true they didn't attack, they strangled us from the world behind our borders, causing a mass shortage in resources. Often times platoons of Trew citizens were sent out to the neighboring areas to collect resources. Thats how my parents died...It was two years ago now. I said goodbye one day and I never saw them again, of course they hadn't worried me with the fact that they were going on a resource collection mission. I dream every night that one day they will show up to the gates of Trew, worn down from war but alive.

"Five minutes out!" Side hook yelled as the truck bumped as it drove down the sandy side road.

I sat up and pulled the gun out of my holster and cocked it. I pulled a second firearm from a weapons box and clipped it into my ankle holster along with a knife and a couple of extra clips of ammo on my belt. The truck slowed down, Sero and I jumped out and side hook drove the truck away. We arrived in a little, run-down city called Sawmill. We moved toward a small ram shack store or rather what was left of it.

I jogged over to the store trying my best to hurry, well aware the Gargants would be here soon. Pushed my body against the door but it didnt budge. I got on my knees and pulled out two small thin metal pieces from my belt.I inserted them in the lock one above the other and a clicking noise echoed as I slowly turned it and the lock clicked one final time.

I  slowly opened the door and a gray figure was standing right behind the door with a scarp metal helmet he must have made himself. He swung his hand backward and in one motion brought a blunt weapon down on the center of my head. I staggered back a little lightheaded, I fell out the door and called out to sero. He was in the building next to the one I was in. I called for him but I fell to the ground my eyes slammed shut.
