Moment of truth (M)

" Morning everybody.... What's for breakfast?" I asked sleeply

" the usual eggs. Eat and get ready for school, don't forget your lunch." My dad said.

"Actually I would like to talk to you guys..." I announced

everybody looked up at me.

"what is it sissy?" My sister Bree asked

" I have made the decision to do culinary in England. Sena invited me to come and visit her but she had an interesting idea, for me to study abroad in some of the best culinary schools in England. I like the idea a lot. I have my money, I have nothing holding me back and  all i need is to speak with my adviser about my scholarships."

" Go for it, i always wanted you to go abroad." My mom said bluntly.

she was always like this when it came to doing something different, which i was grateful for because i had a bit of freedom. My dad on the other hand looked upset... Poor daddy, I'm a big daddy's girl so this must be hard.

" That would be great sweetie, i moved away for college too and i enjoyed it." Daddy said

i was not expecting that but it came and i got his blessing, both actually.

"ok, I'll talk to my adviser today and I'll call you later. Bye!"

i kissed my parents and messed with Bree's hair which gave me a pout and the evil eye. I got my keys to my Mustang and walked out.

" Mrs. Rump, do you have a few minutes?"

it was lunch time and i took that time to visit an old lady by the name Rump, despite the fact that she had no rump. Mrs. Rump turned around and i noticed she has failed to get the memo that it isn't the 60's anymore and the bright blue eye shadow and the red red lips weren't in  for elders anymore. However she was the nicest old lady in this old school and she gave out cookies!

" why hello dear, and of course i have time, cookie?" She asked with the platter of cookies at hand

i smiled, took a seat and grabbed a cookie.

" Mrs. Rump, i have decided to study abroad in England for culinary and i would like to know if my scholarships could be used over there."

" oh dear, that's hard stuff to figure out. I will see what i can do. I'll look at colleges,  see if they accept you scholarships and give you a list by the end of the day." She said

i smiled and got up to walk out.

" oh and dear," Mrs. Rump said

i turned back, "Yes?"

"This will be the highlight of your life, i just know it!" She said with a smile

it was the end of the school day and I walked to my car in a hurry. I clutched the enveloped I had in my hand as if it was my life. In the last minutes of class of I received an enveloped, delivered by Mrs. Rump. I wanted to wait until I got in my car to read it so I would save myself the embarrassment of either jumping up and down or having a tantrum! I got my phone out and pulled Skype up on my app. Sena picked up and I told her my day and my request from Mrs. Rump.

"WELL WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?? RIP THAT THING APART!" she said excitedly

I tore the envelope and stared at the still folded paper. On the paper was a sticky note with what seemed like names of colleges.

" ok, moment of truth." I said shakily

I opened the envelope and started reading out loud.

" Miss. Bonnet,

     when you were a freshman you requested that the scholarships given to you were both for in-state, out- of - state and abroad. Thankfully scholarships won from competitions and for state wide testing were accepted by the colleges listed. However your  other scholarships were not accepted. In order to have a four year scholarship you must receive a high score on the state wide test. We wish you luck and happy endings.

"Sarah, cover your ears..." I warned

"No Way!!! I'm screaming with you!!" She said

then we both let out squeals of joy

" I have to get home and tell my parents and then cram my brain with my test in two days. See you then girly!!"

"Byeeeee!!!!! Good luck!"

I walked through the front door and called for everyone. My sister came running down the hall and my parents came from the kitchen to the living room.

" Mom, hold on to your coffee, or better yet, put it down." I asked

she put it down and so did my dad.

" Most of my major scholarships were transferred and if I want to have a four year scholarship I have to score high on testing." I said in a shaky voice

" wow, that's great hon, when's your test?" Dad asked

" in two days so I need to study a bit." I said

" Then get  to work!! Go go!" My mom said with flailing arms.

I began to walk off when Bree asked," so your really leaving?"

"yea" I replied

"ok, I'll help you pack! Lets go!!" She said with a big smile

"wow..." I said as I walked to my room.
