Chpt. 12: His gifts...

Reader's P.O.V.

Its been about 5 days since I've visited Alois, but he sent me a letter, though it was very short. All it said was "Look! I left you a few presents! They should be with Ciel... I hope you like them! Well, I will see you at your ball very soon dear!" With his soft signature at the bottom. So I'm gonna go down to Ciel's office and ask about them. Yeah.... that's what I'll do... I started walking until Sebastian grabbed my waist.

"We're going to need to speak for a moment, Evangeline. The queen needs building to get done, and she's requested our help. Just thought that I could let you know, since I'm supposed to "keep you informed", as Lord Ciel has ordered." Seb said to me.

"Well, what an attentive butler you are Sebastian. Thank you very much." I said, masking my slight dissatisfaction with Ciel. He's lazy in a way.. I went and opened the door and Ciel looked at me with  disgust.

"Alois wants you to open your presents today, come here. Oh, and I remember you in an outfit similar to this when we were younger." He said motioning me to come to his desk. I was wearing a red dress that passed my knees with rolled up sleeves and white socks that came almost to my knees.

"Alright" and I walked up to him at sat at the desk. He placed a large blue box with a white ribbon down, so I opened it.

"Be careful." He warned after taking a few steps away from the desk. OK then?.. I opened it and- ohmygoditsadamncatohgodilovecatsSOmuch. It was caramel colored with green eyes. I named it Taffy. It's a very small kitten so its extremely adorable by default.

"Damn it I knew it.... Sebastian! Get the damn thing out of here, its an order!". He shouted as Sebastian came in and made a scene with Mr. Taffy.

Cue careless whisper saxophone-

After 2 minutes, he took Taffy to a room made just for him. Ciel put down two more boxes, both white with green stones on it. I opened it, but I would have never expected this. Its a locket. W-with a damn sp-spider!?

"What is it? Show me, it can't be that-" Ciel immediately took the locket and inspected it.

"Damn it they're just some crystals" he said, displeased with my reaction. Oh they are.. They were Amethyst crystals set in the shape of a spider. How... macabre?.. The second box had a rose set in Rose Quartz, which I found adorable. Ciel then put a letter in my hands, along with a package.

"This is from me. Consider it whatever, just know its from me." Ciel said.

"Hm? What's this for?" I asked not catching on to the idea just yet.

"For being stupid." He stated quite bluntly.

"What?" I'm actually really confused.

"Oh come on, the both of us have been completely infatuated with each other since we were kids.. I'm surprised you haven't already tried to vow as a second wife." He said, slightly laughing.

"Well, if we're on the same page then why not-" Ciel cut me off.

"We cant. We're already both engaged, and usually such a thing only happens when the first wife dies or doesn't have any heirs. It could work then, but Alois hasn't died, and the engagement hasn't been called off, let alone be official." He said, looking slightly amused at my face. I sat smiling. It was my way of masking confusion.

"Well, alright then. For now, you make my decisions, since you seem well prepared no matter the circumstance. Thank you, I will see to it that I appreciate your gift." I said, getting up and walking out of his office, Sebastian standing outside with a slight smile.

"There is someone here to see you. Don't worry, I will go with you. I will ensure your safety." He said, taking my left hip and my right hand into his own, down the hall to lock eyes with a man with white hair, Angelina, and the Queen herself, dressed in all black.

"Jessi, oh my darling!" Angelina said, holding hands with the man, then letting go to run to me.
