Chapter 10

"There dead and its all my fault." Valkyrie sobbed. She had been like this for the past hour now and she didn't know what to think of herself, she couldn't believe she had killed the people who meant the most to her. She will never forget the faces of the Dead Men as she shot each individual person. It will haunt her and she wont know how to get rid of it, "Valkyrie...im so sorry..." Bella whispered and Valkyrie just cried harder "I hate myself...I cant believe I did that."

"You don't have to blame yourself for this. It was Duke!"

"I know but I should have been smarter and shot the capture!"

"Everyone caves under pressure Val."

"Skulduggery wouldn't." Valkyries head snapped up "Skulduggery! He is still alive!"

"Yeah...so? He cant exactly help up can he?"

"I don't know, that's what I want to know."

"Well then how will we find out?"

"We go undercover!" Bella grinned and looked at Valkyrie "Whats the plan?"

"Ok! You sure this is going too work?"

"Pretty sure but ive been wrong before."

"Ok! Operation...whats the name of the operation?"

"Does it really matter?"

"Valkyrie...of course it is!"

"Fine then! Operation...find out of theres a way to get Skulduggery to help, is a go!" Valkyrie said and Bell huffed "I wanted to say that."

"Well tough! Now lets go!" Valkyrie slipped through the door and began to walk to the challenge room where Duke waited for her. The plan was that as Duke is talking to Valkyrie, Bella would sneak up on Lorcan and Arabella and get them to tell her if there way a way to get a person who isn't dead up into the Guardian palace. Valkyrie didn't think it was that well thought but is was all they got. As Valkyrie walked up to Duke she tried to put on a fake smile which he returned "Hello there Miss Cain! Are you ready for your next challenge?" he asked and Valkyrie shook her head "I just came too say I wanted to wait till tomorrow to do it!"

"Oh...ok then. Why did you come to talk to me then?" Valkyrie's eyes narrowed "How did you know that?"

"Oh! I just assumed." Duke said and Valkyrie wasn't buying it but she had to speak to him too give Bella some time.

Bella POV

Once Valkyrie disappeared into the challenge room I silently made my way down to the globe room since that's where Lorcan and Arabella were most likely to be. I turned a corner and saw Lorcan looking at the globe and Arabella stood next to him "Do you think she knows?" Arabella whispered and Lorcan shrugged "I don't know."

"I don't want her to hate me." she whispered and Lorcan chuckled "Well then that's too bad isn't it?"

"But ive never had a friend before."

"And I should care?" Arabella shut up after that and Lorcan grinned. I tip toed up behind Lorcan and put a bag on his head so he couldn't see anything. He was struggling and Arabella caught my eye before winking at me. I dragged Lorcan out and shoved him in a dark room "Who's there?" he asked and I whipped the bag of his head and looked at him "I am! Now your going to tell me something or someone Is going to get cut." I said and brought out a small dagger from my boot and held it against Lorcan's throat "So are you going to tell me what I want to hear?"

"Yes." he said and I grinned "Ok then, so I want to know whether you can bring a person who isn't dead up to the palace?"

"Yes...there is a way!"

"What is it?"

"You go down and find the person you want to bring up! But they must be dead!"

"What? How does that work?"

"Many Dead people wonder around. They are ghosts you will know one when you see one!"

"Ok then! Thanks!" I said and took my dagger away and walked out the door "Wait! What are you going to do with me?" Lorcan asked and I grinned but didn't reply as I walked out the room, and walked down the hall to find Valkyrie.

General POV

"Ok, thanks Duke! Ill be going back to my room now!" Valkyrie said and walked out the room where she saw Bella walking towards her "Did you find out?"

"I did! You have too be dead to come up!"

"But how are we supposed to get them to come up?"

"I'm guessing dead people can see guardians."

"Well...Skulduggery is already dead so...does that count?"

"Well I wouldn't see why not!"

"Alright then! Lets go get our skeleton!"

"Your going to need my help!" a voice said from behind them so they whipped around and saw Arabella smiling at them "Welcome to the crew!" Bella said and grinned at her.
