I drag a comb through my hair, trying to brush the frustrating knots out. So far my attempts have proven futile, though. My hair doesn't have enough volume to cause trouble usually which makes it agreeable for the most part. Of course, since I have a date later today, the universe has decided that it needs to look like a rat's nest. I groan, flinging the comb across the room.

I'll just pick out my clothes first, I think to myself and open my closet doors. I tap my chin, contemplating what to wear, as my eyes scan all the different items of clothing. Texting Sky earlier was absolutely no help, his reply consisting of 'wear whatever you want- or nothing at all. I really don't mind ;)'. I didn't even dignify that text with a reply. Why couldn't he give me a straightforward answer? At this point, I have no idea whether he's taking me to a nice dinner or the movies or even McDonald's.

I consider calling Jamie but then decide that Jay is probably a better option since he might have some idea where Sky is planning to take me. To say Jamie and Jay were ecstatic when they found out that Sky and I are hanging out today would be an understatement. They have been teasing me incessantly. Sky, however, hasn't been subjected to any of the same jokes.

"Is something wrong?" Jay says, picking up after a few rings.

"Do you always answer the phone like that?" I ask.

"You never call me so I figured you were dying. Or maybe you need me to go with you to another party?" he teases.

"Don't remind me about that," I groan, "Actually, I need some help with choosing what to wear."

"Just because I'm gay doesn't mean I have fashion advice, you know. Don't you have Jamie for this kind of girl stuff?" Jay asks.

"Well you're Sky's best friend so I thought maybe you'd have some idea of where we're going. Do I wear a dress? Jeans?"

"I don't actually know anything about his plans," he says and I slump down, "But, knowing Skylar, it probably won't be too fancy so I don't wear anything formal. Maybe just something nice but still casual?"

"Okay, thanks Jay," I say.

"No matter where you guys go, I'm sure he'll appreciate some sexy lingerie," Jay adds and I can almost hear his smirk.

"Shut up. You are both so perverted!" I exclaim and hang up. Returning to my wardrobe, I pick out a pretty floral top and fitted jeans.

"Unbelievable," I mutter, realising that the shirt never made it to the wash after the last time I wore it and doesn't exactly smell like roses.

I slip into my prettiest pair of underwear, needing the extra boost of confidence, and then put on the black skinny jeans. Once again staring into the dark abyss of my closet, I select an electric blue top and then layer a leather jacket over the top. I cock my head to the side, critiquing my outfit in the mirror. Not bad.

Considering this is my first date, not just with Sky, but ever (if this is even considered that), I decide to put makeup on. I don't actually own much but I make due, applying dark eye-liner and a lip colour that is similar to the natural hue of my lips. Surprisingly, I look decent enough. My hair, however, is still a mess.

Just as I decide to brave the comb again, the doorbell rings. My eyes shoot over to the clock. There's still half an hour until Sky is due to arrive. If that's him here early, I might resort to violence.

I rush downstairs after fixing my hair into an unflattering ponytail, and compose myself for a few moments before opening the door. I prepare to yell at Sky for showing up half an hour early but am surprised to see Jamie instead. She launches forward, tears streaming down her face, before pulling me into a hug.
