"Goddammit,"

Gavin fumbled angrily with his coat before ragequitting and throwing it to the ground. "I freaking quit," he announced, stomping on it as he walked on.

"What?" Evan questioned with a frown.

"Washington must be PMSin' or some shit because the weather is changing faster than Taylor Swift goes through boyfriends; I've had to take off my coat and put it back on again probably a million times in the last hour alone."

"I don't even know why you were wearing a coat in the first place, it was in the mid-sixties when you showed up at my house."

"It's a thing. Anyway, how far are we from Seattle?"

"The last mile marker said two,"

"Sweet. We should be there in a few hours if my math is correct."

Smiling, Evan took out from his pocket Gavin's iPod and held it out to him. "Here, you forgot this,"

Taking it from him, Gavin turned it on and was glad to see a full battery. "Thanks. Here," he opened his Pandora app and handed it back. "You can choose the music you want to listen to,"

Evan smiled a little, and then typed in 'Linkin Park'.

They strode along, iPod blasting their music when suddenly it cut off. Checking it, figuring that it was buffering, Gavin found that the screen was flickering on and off, like the screen of a bad television set. "What the heck..." He made a move to take off the back when a single touch of Evan's hand made him lift his head. Evan was staring straight in front of them, left arm up and pointing ahead. His eyes were full of shock and terror. Gavin frowned, and turned his head to find a gigantic fire in front of them, with eyes glaring hungrily into them, and mouth open to show a row of fire teeth.

And then the fire dove into them.
