"You are my best friend as well as my lover, and I do not know which side of you I enjoy the most. I treasure each side, just as I have treasured our life together." - Nicholas Sparks

We went inside.

Julie held my hand really hard. As we walked through the hallways we could see sad pictures of the children that lived there, begging for someone to adopt them. The problem is that no one dares to even look at the Childrens Home so why would they even come in? On our way to Julies room we saw many children, sitting in corners, reading books or playing card games or chess. Some of the doors to the bedrooms were open and when you looked in you could see some of the children cleaning and tidying. I looked at Julie. It was sad to think that whenever she wasn't at my places or with me she'd be here, doing the exact same thing these kids were doing.

"Hurry up Cent! We grab the book and get our asses outta this damn depressin place!"

Julies room was right ahead. She let my hand go. We entered it and Julie just took the book that was laying right beside her bed and got out of the room. She grabbed my hand again.

"Okay we have the book, now we gotta get outta here..."

She was walking really fast and I felt like I was stumbling in my own feet, trying to keep up with her speed. We heard a voice behind us.

"JULIE GARGOYLE DASMONTAGNE THAT BETTER NOT BE YOU RUNNING AWAY AGAIN!"

Julie froze. She stopped moving and started shaking really bad.

"Julie, now is not the time to get scared..."

"MISS MONTAGNE! IF I GET DOWN THERE AND SEE LAYING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HALLWAY LIKE A DEAD PERSON, I SWEAR TO GOD, JESUS, MARIA AND ALL THE SAINTS! I WILL MAKE SURE YOU ACTUALLY ARE DEAD!"

I heard foot steps. I looked at Julie in panic but there was no help coming from her side. She was too busy with slowly dying in fear for the old lady, Miss Delacroix, who was on her way. I grabbed Julie, and carried her on my back like she was some kind of koala and started running. I ran out the door and kept on running. I ran past the park, through the city and into the woods.

Me and Julie had our secret place in the middle of the woods. Our secret place was a little cave and we'd meet there whenever we had a problem or just wanted to talk. We're best friends! We need a place that only we know.

I entered the cave and sat myself down while Julie decided to sit on my lap and I thought, why not? I decided that it was time to tell her about what I had discovered, about my mums diary.

"Julie? Um, there's something I have to tell you..."

Julie just nodded. I just started reading from my mums diary. As I read the diary I saw that Julie was getting interested. I explained to her the list of promises my mum was keeping. I read till the part where we find out that my mum actually had a sister.

"Wait, yer mum had a sister? The big lonely bird isn't as lonely as we thought she was, that sneaky lady..."

"Yeah, I was quite shocked when I read it..."

"And her dad did that? For an evil guy!"

"It seems like it..."

"Can you read a little more please?"

I nodded. Julie laid her head on my shoulder so she could have a better view of the book. I started reading out loud.

" 29 August 1996

Hello there my dearest L.K.O.S. I'm back to school and just told Clad about what happened. She told me it's okay. But she told me not to tell anyone because no one would believe me. She said that I could trust her and I do. I trust Clad. I told JP too about what happened. Jean just told me that everything is going to be okay, that I could spent the summer in his house if I wanted to. I smiled and thanked him. Clad lighted up a cigarette. She asked me if I still was the perfect little girl that they met one year ago. I said that yes, I still am the one who I was a year ago. Jean and Clad smiled and said that it was good that I was still the same, because the Amour they love, is the one they met last year. Clad starting smiling. Then she said: "Although even if you changed I'd still love you. You're my best friend, my sister and no matter how much you change or just don't change at all, I'll still love you. Always. As long as you promise to accept me, Claudine Sacrament Gargoyle, for who I am..." I promised that. I'll always accept Claudine Sacrament Gargoyle for who she is... and Jean-Baptiste of course..."

I closed the book and sighed. I looked at Julie. She was staring at empty air.

"So what do you think?"

Julie didn't answer. I looked closer and I saw tears in her eyes. Julie opened her mouth, trying to force the words out of her.

"Vincent... What... What is my name?"

I was confused.

"Your name is Julie. So?"

"No, my full name... What is my full name?"

"Julie Gargoyle DasMontagne..."

"And you're mums bestfriend name was?"

"Claudine Sacrament... Oh..."

Julie hugged me and tried to bury her face in my chest. Soon my t-shirt was getting wet because of her tears. I looked up and closed my eyes.

"Gargoyle" Julie whispered. "Claudine Sacrament Gargoyle is my mums name..."

There was silence for a very long time. It seemed like we were stuck in the silence and that we've been there, hidden, in that horrible silence. I didn't want to be the first one to rise up but we couldn't just sit here all day. Also it didn't look like Julie was mentally stable to do anything right now, besides walk and she had to walk. I got up, Julie followed me and started walking home.

We walked through the streets and stopped at the gray house. Julie turned to me and looked at me.

"Well, we gotta find out of this."

"Yeah. Oh by the way, can you hide this for me?"

"Sure!"

"Thank you just make sure no one finds it, and I agree with you. We really need to get to the bottom of this."

Yah, maybe we can talk about it after school or somethin?"

"Wait, school?"

"Yah, it starts tomorrow...Yanno... 26 August... Tuesday..."

"THAT'S TOMORROW?"

"Ummm, yah. So I guess I'll see ya there huh Cent?"

I didn't even had the time to answer. I just ran as fast as possible to my house because not only I have to clean up the mess in my room, but pack my stuff to school too. All that before my dad comes home. I looked at my watch.

"Damn that's in 30 minutes..."

My dad, Leon and Katya got home later and they were pretty exhausted. Leon and Katya seemed to have they're stuff ready for school so they just changed into they're pajamas and went to bed. I did the same. As I was getting in bed I remembered what my dad had said.

"Vin, I'm sorry. That book is no good for anyone. Please just throw it away. You have 3 days. On the third day, at 18:30 I'm going to inspect your room and make sure it's gone. If it isn't, I'm going to keep it and burn it when I have the time. I trust you to get rid of it..."

That was tomorrow. He was going to check tomorrow. Probably while I was at school. But now the diary is with Julie so everything is fine. I smiled to my thought and fell asleep.
