"Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving." - Albert Einstein
I was home. All alone With my thoughts. I was in my room. It looked like a really ordinary room besides that maybe I have more books than one usual 16 year old guy. Also I had classic music records everywhere. I had three really big windows. I had a Mirror not so far away from the door that leads out of my room. My room looked really clean and tidy. That's when I remembered that my dad might have looked through my stuff today.
I looked at my room.
"You don't seem to be any different..."
I looked through everything. I checked my books, all of my papers, all the corners and under my bed.
"You really don't seem any different..."
I went back to bed. I looked up to I'm not really sure what. I had many posters of movies and games, but I wasn't looking at any of them. I just looked up. Up to nothing I guess.
"and I'm talking to myself... I'm talking to myself..."
That's when I heard the phone ringing and I felt my bed vibrating a little. I didn't even jump a little. I was in peace and there was nothing that could ruin that. Not here. I picked up the phone and looked at the screen to see who was calling me. It was Julie. I was going to answer it but then I saw who was standing outside my bedroom door.
"Ready to discover some secrets, smelly rich boy?"
She was smiling. She was wearing a t- shirt with the Steven Universe logo. The t- shirt was big so you couldn't see much of the blue jean shorts she was wearing. Just like she liked it. You could see that she was really tanned too. Not too tanned, but a little. I looked at her big blond, curly hair and her big blue eyes. Her lashes looked really long and really dark which just made her eyes look even more beautiful. Julie didn't wear makeup and she didn't need to. She looked beautiful. I turned away and looked at the mirror for a second. I looked really pale, almost like a vampire. My eyes were really green and my hair was black as the feathers of a raven. I could never compare myself to her. She was way too beautiful for me.
"So... Are ya gonna talk to me or nah? Don't tell me ya forgot how to talk!"
I looked at her. I shook my head so I could get back to reality.
" Yeah, of course."
"So, what are we gonna do now? About the diaries I..."
"Shush!"
I looked around and thought for a few seconds. If my dad saw the diaries or heard us talking about them he would snap. I looked out the window. It looked really sunny now which was a bit weird since just now it was really cloudy. It was an unusual sunny day. That's when I came up with an idea. I smiled at her and she looked at me with a confused face.
"So, want to go out and get some ice cream?"
She smiled and you could see that her eyes were shining. Almost as bright as the sun.
We went to a "Gelateria". I have no idea what it means but it must have something to do with Italian Ice cream. Me and Julie sat by the window. She ordered her ice cream and I did the same. The place had a wonderful smell. It smelled of the different tastes of the ice cream they had. Some stronger than others, like the smell of lemon ice cream and chocolate.
The reason why I chose this place was because this was one of Julies favourite places. We used to come here whenever we had the time and the money. Same thing about the coffee place on the corner and the pizza restaurant some buildings away from here. I love taking Julie to places like that because I know she loves it. She smiles so bright and her eyes shine of happiness just like when I asked her if she wanted to og get ice cream earlier. Even though I dislike that coffee shop, Julie loves it and going there makes her happy. That's enough for me.
Julie brought the diaries. She placed them on the table and looked at me.
"So, what are we gonna do Cent?"
I looked at the books. There was two of them so I guess... I took a big spoon of ice cream.
"Well, since there is two of them maybe we should read one of them first, then the other."
I looked at Julie to see if she understood my point. She was mostly just looking at the diaries. She seemed a little confused as she was biting the top of the spoon. So I tried to explain it.
"You know like, reading one of the diaries is like reading ones version of the story. So like, if we read one version first the other version will be easier to understand."
Julie nodded.
She looked around the place and ate a spoonful of ice cream. She closed her eyes and made this weird face as if she just had a brainfreeze. I guess she did have one. She looked at me and opened her mouth to say something. To my suprise and hers, she just burps. I burst out a laugh.
"You are not very lady like are you?"
She started laughing. It takes about 5 minutes and then she got serious again. Well, almost.
"So, shall we start readin yer mums diary first?"
"If you don't mind..."
"Of course not! I always wanted to know what that big bird had on her mind anyways."
She said that but she didn't really mean it. I mean, everyone would want to know what was on my mums mind but it wasn't just that. Julie was afraid of her mums diary. She seemed to understand what I was thinking about because she looked Down and said the Words that she didn't have courage to say earlier.
"I'm afraid to find out that my mum is really crazy..."
Her mum was locked up in the asylum. No one wants a crazy mum, not even Julie. She always thought that maybe her mum was actually mentally healthy and that she really knew what had happened to her dad, but now that she has the chance to see what really happened she's scared. I could understand that.
Julie looked out the window with a sad face. It didn't quite fit the picture since the sun was shining. She wasn't looking at the people that walked by. She wasn't looking at the trees and she wasn't looking at the sky. Her eyes were empty.
I changed Place so that I sat beside her. She didn't seem to notice. I hugged her from behind. I think she noticed me then but I wasn't sure. I placed my head on the toop of her head. She looked up.
"Ya know you have an extremly good timing when it comes to givin me hugs, right?"
"Did you need it?"
"Yah, I did... I really did... Thanks Vincent"
The sun was shining and I felt its warmth. It was an unusual sunny day and I kind of did like it.
