The three first years sat on the train talking of nothing in particular. James and Teddy told stories of practical jokes they had played on James' parents and siblings and Lily listened intently. James looked out the window and saw the school in the distance.
"You should go change Lily." James said "We'll be there soon."
Lily grabbed her bag and ran down the corridor to the bathroom. She pulled out her uniform and laughed at the memory of the professors' reactions to the new uniform. The school had done away with robes and the Hogwarts uniform for girls was now a plaid skirt of school colors for first years of of house colors for older students, a black sweater with a tie of school or house colors and black dress shoes with no more than a two inch heel. She threw her uniform on and rushed back to the compartment. The train came to a stop and the first years filed out silently.
"Firs' years! O'er 'ere!" A voice yelled "Firs' years! With me!"
"Hagrid!" Teddy, James and Lily yelled
" 'Ello there." The aging half giant said "I see you've found each other."
The three first years smiled.
"No more then two ter a boat!" He hollered
The other first years jumped at the booming voice and the three "marauder children" as they would be called laughed.
"You three better get ter a boat." Hagrid chuckled "And-"
"No more than three ter a boat!" They mimicked as the climbed into one of the small row boats
Hagrid sighed and walked towards his boat.
"Great. A Potter, a Lupin and a Black." He thought "So much for no more mayhem at Hogwarts."
"How do you know Hagrid?" James asked
"I have my ways." Lily replied vaguely, her eyes betraying a small twinkle
"Seriously? You're not going to tell us?" Teddy asked, amused
"Nope." Lily laughed
James splashed her and a splash fight ensued resulting in the trio's boat tipping over. Lily screamed as the boat tipped and Hagrid rowed back and pulled the three out of the water.
"There's always three that fall." He said "I assumed it be you three and Lily , you get to explain why you are soaked."
Lily but her lip then smiled.
"No I won't." She said
She waved her wand and mumbled something and the friends were dry. Hagrid laughed a little and rowed back up to the front of the group.
