Chapter 2
I think Angel was mad at me, but I don’t really care. I walked in her room to get my stuff because I had called my mom to pick me up. “Crystal, why are you all mad at me? I didn’t do anything to you!” She started to yell. “You didn’t do anything to me? You really have the nerve to tell me that?” “Just go home!” “I am! And remember what I told you in that text. I’m not going to help you anymore. I’m completely done with you. You won’t let me help you, you won’t let me talk to you, and you won’t get off that stupid computer. Why don’t you just go and be happy with your internet boyfriend, Steve, or John, or whatever his name is.”
I can tell I made her mad. Tears were coming out of her eyes. I might have been a little harsh but she deserves every bit of it. “Crystal, I’m sorry! I promise I will change.” I had to clue what to say. I know she’s not going to change. She always says that when we get in a fight. It pisses me off how she is a hypocrite to her own words.
“Come on Crystal.” she pleaded as a tear rolled down her cheek. “It’s too late, I already called my mom.” I picked up my stuff and started to walk out of the doorway. Angel’s mom walked towards me. “Honey, your mom is here. I’m sorry you guys are fighting.” I nodded and walked out of the front door into the car. “Mom, I’m sorry for asking this because I know you drove here to pick me up. I want to stay. To see if this will be my last time staying here again. Please?” I softly and apologetically asked. “I guess so, but you know you wouldn’t be staying if you asked your father that question.” She chuckled.
I walked inside of Angel’s house and explained to her mom what happened. She walked into the room for a couple minutes. I wonder if she was talking to her. A few minutes later her mom walked out with Angel’s laptop. I then walked into Angel’s room and apologized for being so harsh. I also told her the consequences she will have to face if she doesn’t change. I lay down on the spare mattress that was on the floor. I hadn’t noticed how late it was. It had already been 12:00.
I fell asleep, until I heard a strange noise. I sat up on the mattress and looked around the room, where was Angel? I stood up and walked around the house trying to find her, but she was nowhere. I peeked through front windows. I couldn’t see anything in the darkness, so I reached the light switch and turned on the front side lights. That’s when I saw a dark blue truck. The truck started up, and I saw Angel in the passenger window kissing whoever was in the truck. I ran and opened the front door and dashed for the car, but by the time I was off the porch it was already on the road.
I ran through the door and into her parent’s room. “Ms. Donna! Ms. Donna, wake up!” I shouted while shaking her. She finally popped up really quick. “What is going on?” she asked in a rough tone. “I just woke up and saw Angel leave in a dark blue truck with some guy!” “Oh my! Gilbert wake up!” she screamed. Her father woke up and was explained what happened. Ms. Donna called the cops and I described what the car looked like. After they hung up the cops arrived and questioned me and I explained everything. I’m surprised her parents didn’t get in trouble for her going like that. Her parents tried calling her cell phone but nobody would pick up.
I feel like a terrible friend. I tried to help her, and she just wouldn’t listen. I wish I could just stop her from leaving in the first place. I was beginning to wonder if this was the same girl I knew in 5th grade. I have no clue anymore. I just can’t believe she was stupid enough to get in a car with a complete stranger.
I took out my iPod remembering I could text her.
“Where the hell are you, your parents and the police are are out looking for you. I am so pissed right now. After you promised you would change. You do this?”
I waited a while to see if she would reply, but of course, I got nothing. She’s definitely going to have it in for her when she gets home, if she comes home.
Okay, so far things are pretty bad. It’s four in the morning, I have school tomorrow, my best friend ran off with some stranger, and the police are here questioning me so I can’t sleep. That’s great isn’t it? I can’t call my mom or dad, they are sleeping. I have to stay here, in my ex best friend’s house, without her.
I finally arrived at school after the agonizing bus ride I had to get on without Angel. I walked into my homeroom class and sat in my seat as everyone stared at me. Why was everybody staring at me? Finally, Nicholas came in and asked what happened to my eyes. Oh, that is why everyone is staring at me. I had huge circles under my eyes from last night. “Why didn’t you get much sleep?” “Well, Angel drove off in a car with some guy she didn’t even know. So I had to get interrogated all night by police officers.” “I’m sorry babe, why would she do something like that?” I looked at Nicholas like he was dumb. “Do you know who we are talking about?” He smiled at me. I am still really mad about last night though. I know I’m doing nothing about my best friend being missing and stuff but there really isn’t anything I can do.
Mr. Smith came in and asked me about last night. I told him everything with a bit of a temper. “Is everything alright Ma’am? You seem a little on edge today?” “I’m fine; I just didn’t get much sleep last night.” When class started I fell asleep. I don’t think Mr. Smith wanted to wake me up anyways, I had a rough night, and he knows it.
I rode the bus home and told my mom about what happened. “Angel did that? She’s such a sweet girl though.” “Mom, I already told you, she’s not as sweet as you think.” “Agreed, and you are no longer allowed to have any contact with her after this. She is forbidden from coming over here, and I will tell your father everything that has happened.” I nodded and went up stairs and blasted my radio. Nothing makes me feel better more than Simple Plan when I’m pissed or going through drama. I fell asleep while listening to music. That’s when I got a text.
