Michael

"Mission complete" said the robotic voice over the intercom.

Michael watched as people started exiting the room, tired of the game and no longer wanting to play. He couldn't blame them, he had played for three rounds and was exhausted. Michael caught sight of his best friend, who walking after him when Mike spotted Harley, who opened the door and chatted with the employee briefly before looking over her shoulder at Mike. The girl smiled shyly at him before turning around and walking out.

Michael became curious, walking after her towards the door without giving Christian any warning.

"Wait up!" Christian called out, but was ignored as Michael dashed out of the dark room, desperate to find the girl. He looked around the brightly lit arcade that was filled with dozens if teenagers, but couldn't find her.

"What the hell?" Christian asked when he was finally at Michael's side. "You totally tried ditching me."

"Sorry." Michael said, not paying much attention. His eyes roamed the room, looking for her.

"What are you looking for?" Christian asked after a while.

Michael scanned the room once more, desperate to find the girl that intrigued him, before he felt his shoulders slump as he have up. "Nothing." He replied solemnly, shaking his head. "Let's play some games."

Christian gladly grabbed Mike by his shirt, pulling him to a random shooting game. Michael put a token in, grabbed one of the guns, and waited for the game to start.

"Yes!" Christian shouted as he won the round and Michael smiled at his best friend's excitement. His smile quickly deepened as he spotted Harley playing a game nearby, moving the joystick with concentration.

"I'll be right back." He muttered at Christian who began to protest before Mike started to walk towards her.

He grinned as he saw her smack the side of the machine, signifying that she had lost. She turned around, looking for a new game to play when her eyes landed on him. Michael smiled at her bashfully, putting his hand up to wave. Harley widened her eyes before grabbing her purse and speed walking the other way as Michael stood there, slowly putting his hand down, feeling complete, utter rejection. He cleared his throat, feeling embarrassed before scratching the top of his head and making his way back to Christian who was waiting by the game with a scowl on his face.

"You dick." He said bitterly at a frowning Michael. "What's wrong?"

Michael faked a small smile, "Nothing. Let's get some ice cream and come back."

Christian shrugged and walked beside Michael to the ice cream shop a couple stores to the right of the arcade.

As the two friends entered the shop, they walked to the display case of ice cream flavors, eager to pick one.

"Two mint chocolate chip cones, please." Michael says to the old man behind the counter who huffs in annoyance as he grabs the cones and begins scooping the ice cream.

Michael payed for the ice cream before handing a cone to his friend. The two of them made their way to table and sat down across from each other, devouring their ice cream cones. The pair was laughing at ridiculous pictures that they took of one another when the bell of the door chimed, and Michael looked at the entrance to see Harley walk in, heading to the display case.

"Hey, Pops." She said to the man who smiled at her warmly. "You know the usual."

The man grabbed a cup and scooped the pistachio ice cream into it, sliding it over the counter to the waiting girl.
