Harley

"I need you to take over, Har."

Harley looked up from her book over at Pops, who stood at the cash register, his hands on his hips.

She sighed, "Sure thing."

Harley smiled as he kissed her cheek and walked to the back of the store to rest for a while. His back was acting up again.

"What do ya want today, Steph?" Harley asked her friend who fiddled with a button on her cardigan.

"Chocolate chip with a scoop of I Know About The Curly Haired Guy You Were With Last Night And I Need Details, please."

Harley scoffed at Stephanie and grabbed a cone and opened the display case to get the ice cream.

"There's not much to tell," she said, looking for the ice cream scooper. "We met during laser tag and hung out a little afterwards, we're friends."

"Were certain digits exchanged?" Stephanie asked, her eyes widening as she waited for the answer.

"I gave him mine," Harley admitted, handing her friend the cone.

"Has he texted?"

Harley grabbed her phone from her back pocket, clicking the home button to reveal her lockscreen; nothing.

She sighed,"No. I've been waiting all day."

Harley had to admit it; she couldn't wait for the cute boy to text her, and worried that he wouldn't at all.

"See? You're into him." Steph teased, leaning over the counter.

"Can you blame me? He's adorable."

"Amen." Stephanie agreed, smirking. "But I'm more into blondes."

"Right, Christian. He told you, didn't he?"

Stephanie nodded as Harley felt her phone vibrate, a new notification displayed;

1 New Message

Unknown Number

i've been waiting for you to text me first just to mess with you but i just realized that you don't have my number

Harley gasped as she read the message, bubbles filling her stomach.

"Let me see!" Stephanie squealed, earning a 'be quiet' from the back. "Sorry Pops."

Harley showed her friend who gave her a thumbs up and said that she was already late for her shift, and that they would catch up later.

"Bye." Harley said as Stephanie walked out the door, grabbing her phone to reply.
