CHAPTER FIVE
Kathy's POV
We came back home from school. Jett and Gab followed us in school like two small little puppies that got lost and we're their new owners. Maybe the word small is an understatement because of the fact that they're bigger than us. Make those two big bulldogs.
Mom picked us up after those two left. Steph had to go home, and her mom, aunt Sophie picked her up just as we came home. Too bad, but we'll see each other in school tomorrow.
"Mom, why does the kitchen smell like lasagna?" I sniffed the whole atmosphere of the house and the slight tingly smell of lasagna tickled my sense of smell. Yum.
"I forgot to tell you didn't I?" Mom asked.
"Tell what'?" I arched my eyebrows in confusion.
"That your Aunt Jenna and her family is coming over for dinner." What dinner?
"But mom, I don't have time to pick my clothes." If she have had reminded me, that won't be a problem.
"Good thing I prepared your dress. It's on your bed upstairs and don't forget to wear those pumps I got for you." Mom is a lifesaver but can't I wear a normal shirt and shorts? We are at home.
I look at mom and to see her eyes gleam with excitement, I knew better. I can't refuse to mom. Not now. Not now that her eyes are sparkling like stars. I have to wear those or else. "Okay. Thanks mom." I kissed her cheek and went upstairs.
I took a shower for five minutes and looked up at the dress mom prepared for me. It was a white asymmetrical dress that goes on just between my thighs. It was simple. A bit short for me but it'll do. I put it on and including the nude pumps mom bought when we're at the mall last week. Now, for the make-up. A little lip gloss, foundation, and mascara and for the hair, I brushed it and tied it in a side pony. Okay! I'm done. I looked at the mirror.
"Yes!" I made a fist pump in the air and smiled at my achievement. I'm not really good at dressing up and not to mention these pumps made me look taller.
I could hear their voices downstairs. I'll be meeting Aunt Jenna's kids. I don't know if they will be older or younger than me. I hurried but these heels are bugging my speed.
"Mom!" I called mom for her attention but she's still talking. I watched every step down not wanting to fall. Reaching the first floor, I looked up at them, a big welcoming smile plastered on my face.
"Kathy?" a familiar male voice called my name. My eyes searched for the person who just called me. And to my utter shock, I saw Jett sitting on our couch. What the hell?
"Jett? What are you doing here?" I said, my mouth hanging open. He's here? Speaking of which, he looks pretty damn good.
"You already knew each other?" Aunt Jenna asked. Jett smiled cheekily and nodded at her. I fazed and remained there frozen.
"Come on. Let's go to the kitchen before dinner gets cold." Mom's voice stopped me in whatever trance I was into.
He's Aunt Jenna's son?! The ignorant, obnoxious player is Aunt Jenna's son?! Impossible!
Both mom and Aunt Jenna head first to the kitchen leaving me and Jett. A moment later he was at my side.
"You look, nice." he grinned playfully and this made me cringe and blush. What is this jerk planning again?
"Shut up." I walked towards the kitchen but these pumps are slowing me down. Jett followed me on my back. "Date, huh?" I retaliated, facing him. Liar. He said he's going on a date.
