CHAPTER TEN
Kathy's POV
Jett. Mom sent him to accompany me. Okay, it sounded crazy and weird; nonetheless, it was fun except for them making fun of me and those embarrassing comments all thanks to my loving dear brother, Matt. He and Jett got along pretty well and that surprised me since he doesn’t really want me around boys. He says I will only get hurt but he doesn’t know it’s the other way around. I’m proud to say I’m lucky to have a brother because first of all, our minds are in amazingly in sync that’s why we’re close. When we quarrel about my alter-ego, yes I have an alter ego but the other information’s’ classified, or there’s a misunderstanding like when he thought I was going boyish and liked girls, the next thing we knew things are back to normal. We’re like twins and I wish we were. I want to enjoy the time that I’m with him now since he’s going back to college tomorrow in such short notice. Unfortunately, I still have school and it ruined all my awesome plans with my brother including some pranks with chili sauce and water buckets. Damn it.
Waking up this early in the morning, I found him still asleep while I walked pass by Jett walking in all his sexy glory with his damp hair and I’m-ready-for-you-I-mean-school kind of look. Just kidding, he hasn’t even talked to me and I on the other hand did the same. I mean, what for? I just remembered the scene last night after he saw me changing and he made that snide comment. That jerk. We all joined together for breakfast and that’s when all the commotion started about how I slightly burn the sides of the pancakes and saying I completely lost my cooking skills. Of course I wouldn’t let them get away with that. I grasped the orange juice with all my womanly pride, sending it to fall onto their plates. Nice way of working things out. Just when I think I’ve won, they swiftly got my pancakes and slid them inside their mouth. Now I was forced eat toast or I would get hungry later. After that, Jett drove me to school in silence. Poking my half of my head outside his car’s window, I let the wind brush my hair backwards away from my face. Partially, I notice him turn his vision to me and back to the road for a moment or two. The silence was helpful in some way. I managed to think of what’s happening to my life and how was Steph now. She told me she was going back to school today and that made my worries to lessen. Not that I have lots of those. When we got to school, Gab quickly approached Jett so I don’t know if he heard me saying ‘Thanks’ for the ride. I just ran off inside the building and went looking for either Steph or Louis. They could be here somewhere. If I were them, they would be in their lockers. Right. They should be.
My eyes searched the perimeter for any signs of those two. Luckily, I found Louis. His back was facing me and he was alone. Ignoring the odd glances of people around, I ran to him while screeching his name. “Louis!” Right as he turned around I jump over him making him fall on his back and I on the other hand landed beside him.
We quickly recovered from that painful landing and stood up looking at each other. Louis, at first, looked puzzled. Seconds later, his mouth formed an ‘O’ and found his words. “Kathy? You…?”
I gave him the biggest toothy smile I could assemble, “The one and only. I got my contacts yesterday.”
“Great! You look cute today.” He pinched my nose.
I laughed, “Well, I should be.”
“I didn’t know you were that modest.” He noted with sarcasm after my cocky statement.
“I’m awesome.”
“Yes you are.” He rolled his eyes and we both laugh. We both turned walking to first period. “Anything exciting that I missed?”
“Except for Jett sleeping at my house, yes there is.” I said. Catching a glimpse of him, his eyes almost bulge together with the nerves on his neck. His fists were balled up. I almost laughed but able to resist laughter. Exactly the reaction I was expecting. I know he always detest Jett and hearing his name doesn’t make a difference.
