*Wednesday*
Erins POV:
"Emma I gotta go I have theater stuff in like ten minutes." I say as I rush around our dorm grabbing the few things I need, "Okay walk safely!" she replies as I open the door, "I will, bye!" I reply and close the door behind me and rush toward the theater.
I'm not one for being late and it really bothers me that i'm running behind, I was tired and went back to the dorm to take a nap and my alarm didn't go off so that's the reason behind me acting like a chicken with its head cut off. When I arrive to the theater I run down the right side isle and plop down in a seat on the first row.
"Someone was in a hurry."I hear a voice from behind me say and I roll me eyes before I turn around to see Harry walking toward me with a smirk plastered on his face. "I don't like being late Harry." I sigh and turn back around in my seat. "Well i'm quite positive you could've walked and still been in time." he replies and takes the seat next to me.
"For someone who can't stand me why do you go out of your way to talk to me and sit by me?" I ask and keep my eyes forward. "Well.. all the others," he says and motions around to the other people in the theater, "avoid me because i'm 'popular' or something like that. But you, you put up a fight and don't take crap easily.. Also you're too nice. The person you hated most in the world could ask you to do something for them and you'd most likely do it." Harry chuckles earning a glare from me.
"I would not." I huff and look back forward. "Agh damn, would you mind grabbing that pen for me? It fell out my bag." Harry says and points at the floor, "Yeah sure." I reply and pick up the pen that was next to my foot and hold it out to him. "My point exactly, and that's not even my pen." Harry chuckles and I look down at the pen and it's actually mine. "Oh fu.ck off." I huff and place my pen in my bag and look at the stage. The sound off Harry chuckling about what just happened is now slightly starting to piss me off. I turn to say something but as I do Mrs. Canton walks onto the stage and calls everyone up.
"Okay today you find out your parts!" she chippers and as she spots Harry and I she winks considering we already know our parts. She starts calling out peoples names and telling them their role and when mine is called i'm just as excited as I was when I found out last week. Harry really didn't react. He simply nodded and said "cool" and that was it. Once Mrs. Canton had finished calling out names and parts she started handing us our scripts and music.
We've been doing random scenes and working through some smaller stuff for about an hour now. "Okay that's great everybody! You're doing really good. Now everybody but Erin clear the stage. I want to go over the scene when you sing On My Own." "Okay!" I grin and walk to center stage considering we don't have props yet. "Okay, are you ready." "As I'll ever be." I grin and Mrs. Canton nods with a smile then the music begins.
*On my own
Pretending he's beside me
All alone
I walk with him till morning
Without him
I feel his arms around me
And when I lose my way I close my eyes
And he has found meIn the rain the pavement shines like silver
All the lights are misty in the river
In the darkness, the trees are full of starlight
And all I see is him and me forever and foreverAnd I know it's only in my mind
That I'm talking to myself and not to him
And although I know that he is blind
Still I say, there's a way for usI love him
But when the night is over
He is gone
The river's just a river
Without him
The world around me changes
The trees are bare and everywhere
The streets are full of strangersI love him
But every day I'm learning
All my life
I've only been pretending
Without me
His world will go on turning
A world that's full of happiness
That I have never knownI love him
I love him
I love him
But only on my own*I finish and stand there for a few moments then Mrs. Canton and the others starts to clap. "That was great Erin!" Canton scurries over and tells me, "Thanks!" I grin and she turns to the other students that are seated infront of the stage. "Harry. Swap places with miss Erin." She grins and clasps her hands and practically skips to the piano. I swear she's the happiest woman on earth. Harry and I pass each other on the steps to the stage and I can hear him mumbling but I can't make out the words. I take a seat and I catch a glimpse from Harry and I'm not quite sure what the looks meaning held, almost as soon as our eyes connected he looked away.
Harry's POV:
Erin is singing her heart out up there and I'm not gonna lie it's pretty amazing. I figured she could sing good, but dang. She's better than good. She's great. "She isn't even using her music. Wow." I hear someone whisper to someone else behind me and I notice Erin's script and music papers on the ground infront of her. "I feel bad for who ever has to follow up her." I mumble to the dude next to me and he nods in agreement. I turn back toward the stage when I notice she's not singing anymore. It's quiet for a few seconds then everyone starts clapping.
Mrs. Canton and Erin exchange a few words then Canton eyes all of us who are sitting down. When her eyes land on me she grins. "Oh shit." I whisper and the dude next to me chuckles, "Harry. Swap places with miss Erin." She says and clasps her hands together. "Good luke mate." the guy next to me says and I nod, "I'm gonna need it." I reply and walk over to the steps to the stage. "How am I gonna follow her? I don't know shit about this musical. Maybe I can just run out." I mumble the whole way I walk to the stage, when I pass Erin I swear she might have heard something but I can't be sure.
I walk over to center stage and face the group of drama students and my eyes land on Erin. What have I gotten myself into.. She's made for this, but am I? When she makes eye contact with me it's then I notice that I was staring at her and I quickly look away. "So Mrs. C, What am I doing up here?" "I want you to do the scene where you sing Empty Chairs At Empty Tables." "Um, okay." I reply and flip through my music until I land on the page I need. Mrs. Canton holds up a thumbs up and I return the gesture and start.
*There's a grief that can't be spoken.
There's a pain goes on and on.
Empty chairs at empty tables
Now my friends are dead and gone.*"Slower Harry." Canton says and I nod and continue.
*Here they talked of revolution.
Here it was they lit the flame.*"More pain Harry!" Canton adds and I nod again, getting slightly mad.
*Here they sang about tomorrow
And tomorrow never came.*"Hold that out longer!" Canton shouts, and I'm nearly fuming.
*From the table in the corner
They could see a world reborn
And they rose with voices ringing
And I can hear them now!
The very words that they had sung
Became their last communion
On this lonely barricade at dawn.*"Harry-" "Stop the music!" I say in a raised tone. "What Harry? You're only half done with the song." "I'm surprised I made it that far." I reply. "What are you on about Mr. Styles?" "I don't know any of this! Never have I heard or seen this musical. I don't know how it goes! And you constantly interrupting me like that is making me feel like a shit singer. Why did you call on me?!" I say in a tone that I myself find unreadable at the moment. "I called on you Harry because you have a great voice. I wanted to hear how you would do. I didn't know that you knew nothing about this song let alone the musical. I'm sorry if I embarrassed you. That wasn't my intent." "Are we done for today?" I ask and she sighs. "I think it would be best if we were. You're free to go everyone."
I pick up my script and music stuff and get off the stage as quickly as possible, I put my stuff in my bag and rush up an isle and out of the auditorium. "Harry." I hear Erin call after me but I keep walking, "Harry.." Nope i'm not gonna turn around, "Harry!" she calls again and tugs at my arm. I pull my arm away and turn but keep walking backwards, "Not right now Erin." I say in a serious tone and the look that comes over her is a sad one but I turn back around and continue on my way. Maybe some football will clear my mind.
