I saw him first

Chapter Two:

After switching seats with Riley I couldn't help but feel a slight tingling sensation running up the back of my neck. Looking over my shoulder I discovered Lucas looking at me, upon seeing my face he smiled sending me a wink.

My heart started to hammer in my chest while all my blood seemed to rush into my cheeks. Not wanting him to see the affect he had on me, I decided to tease him.

"Howdy there cowboy."

He simply smirked at me.

And thus how I started to fall.

Mr.Mathews decided to talk about done great rebellion, and since I knew I wasn't going to be able to do the work myself I decided to start my own.

"No homework! More fun" I started to chant leading other students around to start saying it, all except farkle, and Lucas. But I wasn't about to try and care.

"Riley do something." Mr. Mathews whispers.

"I can't I'm just like maya now." She says before standing up and chanting.

Awe she is so cute thinking this makes her like me. I smoke at her before hearing the bell ring, knowing it's time for lunch. Upon coming into our cafeteria and sitting down, we see Lucas enter, looking around fur a place to sit.

I remember that feeling of unease.

Deciding I didn't want him to feel that I scooted over so their was a place between Riley and I.

"Come here cowboy!" I say.

Earning a frightened look Riley sent my way, but I wink at her, and continue to wave at him when farkle sits between us, Lucas's shoulders slump. The urge to punch farkle is strong, causing me to sigh, but he ends up sitting by Riley.

I feel a bit sad until Riley's dad comes in and drags him away. Causing me to smile a little while Riley pouts. The bell rings once again signaling its time to get back to class.

Its raining inside the building, and Lucas is covering his and Riley's head with his leather jacket, they look so comfy under there, while I stand under the fire extinguisher sprinkles, holding up a now unlit sparkler, drenched, with my mascara running down my face, and a very disappointing looking from Mr. Mathews.

Coming out of the room Riley and farkle were quick to leave, and i didnt see that Lucas had hidden and was watching from behind some lockers.

"Why did you do it Maya" Mr. Mathews asks

"Because, I have no one at home to help me. Sir" I whisper before fleeing.

My mother was a workaholic, and never seemed to have time to help me with my homework, and it was hard enough for me to understand by myself. As i ran back to the subway hoping that I could make it home, I felt a warm arm wrap around my wrist.

"What do you want cowboy." i ask glancing up at Lucas handsome face. But not wanting him to see my tear streaked face i quickly look down again.

"Listen Maya, I can help you with you're homework just come over to mine after school, We can even go back to yours if you rather." He states.

"Why are you doing this?" I ask.

"Because I want you to be happy and feel good." he states.

I nod again before letting out a watery smile, when he returns with a genuine one.

"thanks Lucas." i say before going down and into the subway.
