I sighed attempting to cover the countless bruises covering my body and face.

I took one last look deciding it was all I could do and packed my makeup in my book bag walking out the front door not bothering to lock it.

My whole body shook from the pain as I waked over to Luke's house. He walked out the door just as I got to the bottom of the porch stairs.

"Ready to go?" He asked locking the door and turning back to face me. I simply nodded not trusting my voice.

He walked over to the car opening the door for me. I whispered a thank you and buckled my seatbelt.

Luke climbed into the drivers side and started the car. Once his seatbelt was buckled he backed out of the driveway and continued on the normal route to school.

We pulled into the parking lot dodging teenagers who were too busy talking to each other than paying attention to the cars around them.

Once parked I continued to sit in the same position staring straight ahead. Like turned to me with a worried look.

"Bird are you alright?" Luke questioned. "You didn't even attempt to sing when your favorite song came on." He stated obviously knowing something was wrong.

"I'm fine." That's a lie. I turned to him with a fake smile. I grabbed my book bag and got out of the car and shutting he door before he could ask any more questions.

Luke did the same meeting me around the front of his car. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder causing me to flinch. I started to internally panic. What if he felt me flinch? I don't want him to ask questions. However he released me from the embrace and we began walking into the building meaning he didn't notice.

I quietly sighed with relief. I don't want him to think differently about me. It wasn't my fault. I closed my eyes as we walked into the school.

This was going to be a long day.

______________

After enduring my first two classes i sighed in relief as it was time for lunch. I just started walking towards the cafeteria when the books were knocked out of my hands by satan himself. Calum.

Although the bullying has lightened up since i became friends with Luke he still seams to get to me when he isn't around.

"Fine Calum you win." I spoke my voice was weak. Leaving the books on the ground I turned and walked towards the exit of the school not bothering to turn back to see what my brother was doing. I could feel the silent tears streaming down my face as I continued walking, not really knowing where I wanted to end up as long as it was far away from here.

I ended up at a bus stop five blocks away from school. As I sat on the bench I created stories on the people passing. There was a man with a fedora and briefcase. In my head he was on his way from work to the coffee shop because he had meetings all morning and he has a crush on the barista.

Just as I was making a story for the woman in hot pink leather a bus pulled up in front of the stop.

Do I get on it?

Do I stay here?

I answer these questions by getting on the bus and giving the driver my fare. I took a seat near the middle and looked out the window letting my mind get lost in the blur of the passing buildings.

The bus finally came to a stop about thirty minutes from when I boarded. However, we were on the other side of town and it would take me about 45 minutes to walk home.

I sighed pulling out my phone to call Luke to see I had 14 missed calls and 17 texts from him probably wondering where I was. I clicked the call back button and waited for him to answer.

"Oh my god Bird you had me scared to death where are you, are you okay, I'm coming to get you tell me where.." Luke blurted out before even saying hello.

"I'm on the corner of seventh and main." I simply said in a quiet voice.

"I'm coming now don't move." Luke said and hung up the phone. I sighed sitting down on the curb playing with the grass growing through the cracks. It was getting darker and I was regretting getting on and then off that bus.

"What are you doing out here all alone sweetheart?" I heard a man say from behind me. I froze not turning around. If I don't acknowledge him maybe he will go away.... boy was I wrong.

"When someone is talking to you, you answer you bitch." He said angrily yanking me up by my arm. I squealed in pain.

"Please stop. Leave me alone." I pleaded trying to get out of his death grip on my arm. Just then head lights blinds us and a car door slammed.

"Hey you peace of fucking trash let go of her!" I heard an all to familiar voice yell at the stranger.

Luke.

"What are you going to do about it pretty boy?" The stranger challenged gripping my arm tighter and then slinging me to the ground squaring up to Luke.

Luke then wound his fist back punching him square in the jaw knocking him out cold. He then ran to me. I was okay besides my knees and palms being scraped and the handprint on my arm.

"Thank god you're okay." Luke sighed in relief picking me up cradle style and walking to the car. I clung to his body for dear life not realizing I was crying until a tear fell onto one of the open cuts making it burn.

The last thing I remember before falling asleep is Luke putting me in the car and buckling me up.
