Chapter two

"Yes!" I said without even thinking. I know, I know what are you thinking, going out with your ex's best friend. Why the hell would I say yes?! But really, why wouldn't I? He was gorgeous! I was free on Friday as well, which made it even better. Well what do you think I was going to say anyway. No? That would be just stupid! Or should I say I was spend Friday at home watching Paranormal Activity 4 with my teddy bear, a massive bowl of popcorn and a large margarita pizza; followed by some "girl time" with my mum and some of her best friends? No way was I going to say no! I mean it's not like I could use the excuse of 'I need to study,' it was only the start of term.

So there I was, stuck in algebra; faced with a question that now at this stage, there was only going to be one answer to and best of all, I knew that this guy was a jerk from my best friends first hand experience. That was how I met her anyway, she was so upset after she had seen him kiss another girl in front of her locker and she was left there with her eyes open wide and about five seconds later she had tears streaming down her face. I was new at school, after moving from the Netherlands. I mean I didn't speak, so most people couldn't understand me and I couldn't understand them, they riddled this by just talking louder. It was SO funny, but also kind of annoying. Just because you speak louder doesn't mean I can understand you anymore clearly. If you want me to understand you, make sure you pronounce the words properly and make sure you are facing me. But this, this action spoke all languages! Never in any country I have ever visited, has something like this ever been OK, never.

He heard my answer and it had left a smirk on his face. Jake had seen us talking and when he sat back down he immediately asked, "What were you two talking about?"

I slumped in my chair, scared to tell Jake. Then I hear, "Oh nothing, I just asked Chloe out. Nothing overly big." The facial expression on Jake's face was like he was about to kill Dylan. But as soon as it came, it was gone, and a smile appeared upon his face. But I could tell it was fake, because the happiness never reached his eyes.

After seeing Jakes face, I awkwardly looked to my left and saw Monique staring at us.

She had obviously heard the conversation. I could see a million feelings were flashing thorough her eyes... hurt, betrayal.

Her face immediately went blank when she saw me looking at her.

When the bell went she quickly hurried outside, which was weird because we always walked to our classes together. I was worried I had done something wrong. Our friendship meant the world to me so as quickly as she had left I got up and rushed after her.
