I walked into my mother's room, and she sat in her chair next to the window.
I walked over and I kneeled down next to her.

She looked sickly, her eyes sinking into the purple underneath her eyes.

" Mother." I said quietly, and laying my hand on her shoulder.

" Your so strict, Matthew. Always have been." She said. " Your father admired that about your, that you would put everything you want aside for what needs to be done." She said. " I've always despised it." She said with a troubled laugh at the end.

I made myself smile, and she grabbed my hand and squeezed it tightly. " I can't lose another man in my life." She said breaking down in tears.

I had no clue what to do.

" Tonight, we are going out to eat." I said and she bit her lip. " We deserve to keep living." I said and she winced. " Everything is going to be fine." I said a bit harshly, trying to hold back to tears.

I got up slowly, pushing myself up. I squeezed her shoulder and she squeezed my hand in return.
I then walked to the door.

" Be ready to leave by six." I said before walking out the door and closing it.

I went to take a shower, and when I walked out my mother stood.

" I can't go to dinner." She said blandly and walked away.

" Mom." I said walking after her, but she shut the door in my face.
I opened the door, and she sat on her bed.

" Mom, you can't hide like this." I said taking a step towards her. " You need to keep moving, you have to." I said and she shook her head. " Put on a dress, the reservations are already made." I said forcefully and she smiled at me.

" Okay." She said with a stuffy nose.

I walked away, swiftly. Getting to my room to change.
I changed into my suit, and I walked to my mother's room to check if she was ready.

I knocked on the door, " I'll meet you there!" She shouted.

I sighed to myself and went outside to my car.

I drove down to the restaurant, where they met me at the door, leading me inside the elegant structure.
They say me, and I waited with flowers for my mother.

I got myself a water, and another and another.

I realized my mother wasn't going to show up, so I ordered some to go for us.
I was about to leave when I see Kellen walk in, with Mary Margaret on his arm.

She is blushing, and I get this weird sensation in my stomach.
It is soon replaced my rage, that she is Kellens arm candy.

I sat back down slowly, letting the jealousy fill my body.

" Can I help you with something sir?"
My waiter asked.

" Another water please." I say sternly and they say something before walking back to get me water.

I watched them, she seemed to laugh with him. She was smiling, and seemed very happy.
She was blushing madly, and they seemed to enjoy the conversation they were having.

She had this flicker in her eyes, the admiration, and the innocent lust.
I couldn't help but wish that I was the man sitting across from her.
I wanted nothing more.

Then, when he reached for her hand she took it.
She held it with no problem, and she gave her hand.

The rage inside of me has grown the size of a skyscraper and I stood, my chair falling backward.
Peoples eyes were all on me.

I then rushed out, heading as fast as I could to my car.
When I got home I threw the food on the table and then went to the pantry and took out a bottle of vodka.

I walked down to my garden, and began to drink.

Maybe I am too strict, but I shouldn't have to be all smiles for her to know I like her.
No I don't.

I drank and drank until my body was numb.

I'm so sick and tired of this, everything. Losing.

Harrison. He was all o wanted right now.

Harrison.

" Matthew." I heard and I turned to see Andrea.

" The governor is here to see you." She said as I walked over and past her.

I walked to the dining room and he sat at the table.

" Cane to check up on things." He said with a smile.

" It's fine." I said, knowing the smell of alcohol lingered all over me.

My eyes I knew were bloodshot from my drinking.
He stared at me and I could see the fear in his eyes.

" What?" I said harshly and he shook his head. " Then get out." I said pointing to the door. " Stop checking up, on us. We don't need it. We didn't ask for any of this." I yelled.

" Matthew?" My mother said. " In sorry, but now isn't a good time." My mother said gesturing him out.

" what's gotten into you?" She asked turning around, after he had left.

" Nothing, go back to your room and find your safe place." I contorted.

" Matthew." She gasped and I rolled my eyes and wakes past her.

" Are you drunk?" She asked as I walked past her.

I stopped in my tracks, hearing the concern in her voice.

" Go to bed, mom." I said softly.

I then turned back around and went to my room, I just wanted peace.
I am sick of being happy one second, and it turns around, like it could never be found.

I couldn't believe she could do that, I changed when I was with her and now she just goes ahead and shows me, she doesn't want me to change.
She doesn't care.
