Rebecca's P.O.V
I groaned and stretched before I flipped to my left hand side to glance at my clock. 8am, I'd been 18 for 8 hours! I felt my heart flutter with excitement and nervousness, today was going to be my first shift into a werewolf but first I had a party to get ready for before I turned into a large dog. "Rebecca, get up, you need to help your brother set up the tables and chairs for your party! Happy birthday dear!" I heard mum's muffled shout through my closed door. I sat up and got out of bed, sighing happily as I heard my back pop. I was downstairs in less than fifteen minutes, rather than in my pyjamas I was in the new dress my mum had bought me and a pair of leggings. Not forgetting my favourite black shoes! My hair straight and a small amount of makeup on. "Morning mom," I yawned slightly as she gave me a hug. "Morning dear, happy birthday" she replied before Andrew came in from outside. "You coming to help me with the tables and chairs or what? You might be eighteen now but you're still a little squirt to me" he grinned and gave me a quick hug. "Happy birthday sis," he said before he began pulling me towards the back door. "But food Andrew!" I said clocking the party food my mum had been making. "You can have some in a bit, now come on!" he said.
We'd nearly finished setting up the tables and chairs, there were only a few left, when I glanced towards the Nyght house and saw a flash of someone with black hair run inside. I stopped unfolding the chair in my hands and began to ponder on who it could be. The Alpha and Luna have two children, Dorian and David. David is Alpha two towns over and his mate is Sandy. None of them had black hair, they were all blond except for Sandy who was slightly redder than the rest. So who could that have been? "Rebecca, are you okay?" Andrew suddenly called. I snapped my head towards him and realised I'd been holding an unfolded chair for the past few minutes. "Fine Andrew, just the lack of food in my stomach is getting to me I guess," I replied and Andrew laughed in return as we continued setting the back garden up for my party.
I'd already snaffled down some of the party food as my mom but on my C.D player. The first song that began to spill out the speakers was Need You Now by Lady Antebellum, one of my favourites.

"It's a quarter after one, I'm all alone and I need you now. Said I wouldn't' call but I've lost all control and I need you now and I don't know how I can do without. I just need you now." I sang along under my breath as I danced with my brother then I saw in the corner of my eye that guy with the black hair, making his way over. Just as he got closer See You Again! By Wiz Kahlifa began playing. I turned away from Andrew and locked eyes with the black haired man, those eyes, I recognised them. "DORIAN MASON NYGHT!" I squealed as I grabbed his hand. He gave me a strong hug and I noticed the piercings and the eyeliner and grinned. It suited him.
"Rebecca it's time for your shift," He said just as my dad got everyone's attention. "Ladies and Gentlemen it's time for our daughter's first shift" before Dorian led me to the wood. I stood away from him and my family as I breathed in deeply and felt the wolf in me dying to finally get out, I tensed slightly. "Rebecca," Dorian said gently. "Don't tense up, let your wolf take over. She'll take care of you," he said and I heard my wolf's voice in my head. "He's right, I would never let anything hurt you, including me" then I felt my body begin to shift, I heard my clothes ripping, in a pure white wolf, her name Lyrica. I walked a little bit, over to Dorian, to get used to this new form when I heard Lyrica scream "mate" in my head. With a jolt I realised who she meant. Dorian. He was my mate. After all this time. I felt the fur retreat and I slowly turned back into human form. My cheeks flushed red as I realised I was naked in front of everyone. "Everyone is used to it with their own packs, you'll get used to it too," I heard Lyrica gently say. Dorian noticed the flush and quickly came over and gave me his shirt. I quickly slipped it on, the material hiding everything, which needed to be hid, from view. I inhaled discreetly and smelt his scent. Forest and Axe body spray.
He guided me back to my house where I grabbed an extra pair of black leggings and slipped them on quickly, leaving his shirt on.  I couldn't have even hid the beaming smile of my face even if I wanted to try, I was mated to the future Alpha who was also my best friend since childhood. Andrew was going to be his Beta. I slowly sat down on the sofa when I saw Alexis, the girl I absolutely hated, kiss Dorian. He jerked away from her and I was up on my feet, my hand around her throat before she had time to react. "Touch my mate again and I guarantee you won't live to see your next birthday" I growled at her. She tried to nod when Dorian kissed the side of my neck. "Let her go, I'm yours and only yours Rebecca," he whispered in my ear and I retracted my hand from her throat and allowed myself to be pulled away from her.

Dorian's P.O.V
I was jerked away from the girl and I looked to see Rebecca grab her around the throat, anger and jealously in her eyes as she glared at the girl. Andrew had briefly mentioned that the girl was called Alexis and she and Rebecca hated each other. Also that she was the pack slut making it obvious why Rebecca didn't like her. She was dressed in the tightest clothes imaginable. I'm not interested in people like her, I'd never been interested in anyone since I found out Rebecca was my mate even when some girls had tried to get it on with me, but I had saved my virginity for Rebecca rather than give it to some blond bimbo. That night between Rebecca and I would be special for the both of us. To make this evening special however, I got my guitar out and began to sing to her, to my beautiful mate.
As I sung to her, I made sure I kept my eyes fully locked on her.

She is my everything, I loved her even before I knew she was my mate, I remember wishing for her to be my mate before I had my first shift. I caught her blushing and both my wolf and I smiled in happiness that we were the ones that had made her blush. I finished the song and gently kissed her.
After the party had finished we went to my own dad's office where he gave a small smile at mine and Rebecca's interlocked hands before explaining why we were here. "I'm stepping down the Alpha position" he said and I already knew this was coming but the others didn't. My father continued. "Dorian you will be taking my place and Andrew as his Beta" I made eye contact with Andrew and we both grinned, he was one of my best friends. "Now I believe Dorian has something to say," My father gestured to me and I began to ask Rebecca's parents if she could live with me at the pack house. I felt Rebecca's hand squeeze mine harder as her parents gave us their blessing. We left the office first and I pulled Rebecca towards me. "I love you," I said pressing a gentle kiss to her lips as she breathed the words back to me. Finally we were together again.
