A knock sounds on my door. I walk to the door and glance in the mirror quickly before opening it. Louis stands there looking breathtaking in a dress shirt and black trousers. I suddenly feel a little weird in the dress, solely because I haven’t worn a dress since I was small. Louis’ eyes trail up my body until they meet my eyes.
“Whoa.” He breathes. I blush. “You look… gorgeous.”
“You look very handsome.” I say. He offers his hand which I happily accept. He leads me out to his car that is parked in front of my flat.
He politely opens my door and I slip in. He slides into the driver’s seat and starts up the car. We drive in a comfortable silence. I catch him constantly flicking his eyes over to me. He smirks at me before looking back to the road. A small smile creeps onto my face and I stare down at my hands. The car comes to a stop and Louis rushes to open my car door again. I chuckle at him being so set on being a gentleman.
“Thanks.” I say. He beams at me and offers his hand. I hesitate only slightly before taking it. He leads me into a restaurant and the waiter shows us to a table. We sit down and the waiter asks for our drink orders. I order water, seeing as it’s the only thing I drink. The waiter scampers off to retrieve our orders. We chatter lightly as we wait for the waiter to return. He comes back with our drinks and asks for our food orders. I opt for a lighter meal, still full from hunting earlier. Once again, the waiter scatters off. We sit in another comfortable silence before I notice Louis staring at me. I shift a little and he holds my hand over the table, gently rubbing his thumb across my hand. I move my hair with my other hand, trying to fix whatever he’s staring at.
“What are you looking at?” I ask a bit exasperated.
“You” He responds.
“Why?” I ask, confused.
“Because you’re beautiful.” He says with a laugh. I blush a little.
“Thanks, but I'm not really.” I say, picturing my blackened eyes and pale skin. I look like something out of a horror movie, something people should be terrified of. Mostly because I am. I am something people should be scared of. I am something people are scared of. Louis catches me off guard when he starts singing.
“You are so beautiful to me. Can’t you see? You’re everything I hoped for. You’re everything I need. You are so beautiful to me.” He sings in his heavenly voice. I blush. A spot of guilt punches in the pit of my stomach. I need to tell him. No, later.
“You have a lovely voice.” I say. He smiles.
“Thank you. And, you are gorgeous.” He retaliates. I roll my eyes.
“Whatever you say.” I respond. He smiles.
“I cannot tell a lie.” He says. The guilt grows a little, but I push it away again. I smile. The waiter returns with our meals, forcing us to release each other’s hand. We eat silently, stealing glances at each other. We finish eating and, much to my protest, Louis pays the bill. We walk back out to the car and he opens my door again. He sits in the driver’s seat, but doesn’t start the car. I look over at him.
“Is something wrong?” I ask.
“Come home with me.” He states. My eyes widen.
“Pardon?” I ask, baffled.
“I’m sorry, but I can’t stand the thought of you staying at your flat. It’s not safe over there. You could get cut or hurt. And that neighborhood…” He says. I sigh.
“I can take care of myself, Louis.” I say taking note of the full moon overhead. I feel my eyes changing back to their dark grey until I close them.
