Princess to the public, but a freak when it's time.

Chapter Five

Ever since I found Calum crying on my couch it's been different. Whenever I'm around him the atmosphere feels different, everything about him and me feels different. Just as Calum said he would stop bothering me he did, well not all the time, there were still some times where he would tease me but not as bad as how it use to be.
Just how I promised Calum, I didn't tell anybody about what he told me and I wasn't planning too.
Calum had stayed over that night. I let him sleep on my bed while I slept on the floor. At some points throughout the night I would wake up to him crying because he was having a bad dream. I'd have to wake him up and tell him it was just a dream and he'll just cry on my lap until he fell asleep again.

"Hey babe lets do something fun", Ashton whined while climbing next to me in the bed.
"Wait I'm almost done",
"Ugh you said that an hour ago", Ashton said while pouting.
Ashton and I have been dating for almost two months now and it's been awesome. He's super sweet and cute and never fails to make me laugh.
"There Ash I'm done, now we can do whatever you want to do", I said while Ashton looked at me frowning.
"What?", I asked him,
"Why don't you call me babe or sweetie?", he said while still frowning.
"Don't even lie Ash because I do call you pet names", I said while rolling my eyes. "Oh so I'm a pet now, huh",
"Omg Ashton you're so childish", I said while getting up.
When all of a sudden Ashton pulled me back to the bed and put his arms around my waist.
"Now give me an apology kiss", Ashton said while puckering his lips. I leaned in like I was going to kiss his lips but instead kissed his cheek and got out of his grip and ran downstairs.
"Alyssa you're gonna regret that", I heard Ashton yell from my bedroom. I giggled while running behind the couch. It was a good thing nobody was home, my mom was at work and Kate was at a party with Luke like every Saturday. I heard Ashton groaned when he reached the bottom of the stairs.
I heard him walk into the kitchen and the laundry.
"C'mon Alyssa this isn't funny I just wanted to order pizza and cuddle while watching movies", Ashton said.
I accidentally giggled when he said that and quickly covered my mouth. I couldn't hear his footsteps anymore so I decided to peek and see where he went.
"Boo, got you!", Ashton yelled in my face scaring me making stumble backwards and hit the wall.
"Ouch", I groaned.
"Omg! Are you ok?", Ashton said while coming around the couch to see if I was ok.
"Yea I'm fine", I said while laughing a bit with Ashton.
"Well now that I caught you", Ashton smirked and pick me up bridal style.
"Ashton put me down", I said while trying to get out of his grip.
"No, not until you say sorry for teasing me and then running away from me", Ashton said while throwing me in the bed and climb on top of me and started tickling me.
"A-Ashton s-stop please", I said while laughing. "No not until you say sorry",
"I-I'm sorry", I managed to tell him and thankfully he stop.
"Ok I forgive", Ashton said while laying down beside me pulling me by my waist into him. He kissed my forehead and we stayed like that for awhile, until he broke the silence.
"Hey, you and Calum seem to be on the good side now. How did that happen?", Ashton asked while looking down at him.
"Well you know people just change for the better", I responded.
"That's good, I wouldn't have want to beat up my best friend for hurting my girlfriend", Ashton said in a serious tone. "Oh Ashton stop being like that", I said while rolling my eyes. Ashton didn't say anything after that, he just leaned in and kissed me. We were just kissing when he all of a sudden stuck his tongue in my mouth. I pulled back surprised because he's never done that before.
"Is something wrong?", he asked looking at me concerned.
"No nothing's wrong", I said while looking down embarrassed that I had just interrupted our make out session.
"He don't be embarrassed it was my fault I did that", Ashton said while picking my head up by my chin so I could look him in the eyes. "No Ash it's my fault, I was caught off guard and totally ruined the moment", I said while burying my head in his chest.
All he did was giggle and kiss the top of my head.
"Well, do you wanna continue?", Ashton said already starting to lean down. As soon as our lips were about to touch, the door bell rang, making Ashton groan.
"I'll get it", I said getting up.
I walked downstairs and went towards the door and opened it.
"Hey, are you busy?", Calum asked while looking down at me.
"Um no, come in", I said moving out of the way so he could come in.
"Luke isn't here and neither is Kate",
"Yea I know they are at that party, I left because I got bored", Calum said while sitting down on the couch.
"Calum Hood got bored at a party!?", I asked fake gasping while siting down beside him.
"Shut up Al", ever since the whole crying situation Calum and I have gotten a little closer and that's where he gave me the nickname Al.
"Hey Alyssa who was that at the door?", I heard Ashton call from upstairs, I had forgotten he was still here.
"Um it was just Calum", I told him, while looking at Calum who look somewhat sad. I gave him an are you ok look and he just nodded.
I heard Ashton coming down the stairs.
"Hey man what you doing here?", Ashton asked Calum while sitting down on the other couch.
"Got bored and Michael isn't home, so I  came here", Calum said while shrugging and looking at the floor.
"Well you got here in time because I order some pizzas so we can watch movies", Ashton said.
"I don't have any movies, Kate broke them all", I told Ashton.
"I'll go get some at the store, you guys wanna come?", Calum said while getting up.
"I'll go with you", I told Calum and went upstairs to put on my shoes and get my purse.
"Alright let's go", Calum said when I reached the bottom stair. Ashton looked at me and smiled while I did the same. He then got up to lock the door when we got out.
The car ride was somewhat quite, with the radio playing in the back ground.
We got to the store and went inside, Calum grabbed a basket and we made our way down the aisle.
"So what do you wanna watch?", I asked Calum.
"It doesn't really matter, do you like horror?", Calum said while picking up a horror movie.
"Yea I don't like horror, how about we take a comedy instead?", I said looking at Calum.
"How about we just take both?", Calum asked.
I just nodded and Calum picked two random movies.
"Calum I don't want the one with the doll", I told him.
"Oh c'mon Alyssa, man up. I already watched it and I promise you it isn't that scary", Calum told me.
"Ugh fine, you want any snacks?", I asked Calum already walking towards the snack aisle. He nodded and followed me to pick out our snacks.
When we were done, we made our way to the cashier.
"Hello, how is your day?", the old lady behind the cashier asked us.
"Good, how is yours miss?", Calum responded.
"Mine is going great thank you for asking. Not everyone asks, you're such a gentlemen. I see why you have such a pretty girlfriend now", she told Calum.
"Oh we aren't dating",
"Yea we're just friends", Calum and I explained.
"Well young lad, you better get to asking fast because she right here is a keeper", the lady said winking at me.
I blushed and looked at Calum who was looking at me smiling.
"Well any way your total is $25.76", she informed us.
I was about to give her money when all of a sudden Calum slapped my hand away and gave her his credit card.
"Remember don't wait long", she told Calum giving him our bags.
"Calum you didn't have to pay, I had the money", I told when we were outside.
"It was my idea to get the movies",
"But I was my idea to get the snacks", I told him.
"Just leave it like that, now you know that you owe me one", Calum told me.
"Calum", I asked as we put the groceries in the back. He hummed in response telling me that he was listening.
"Why did you really come to my house today, if you already knew Luke wasn't there?", I asked.
"I wanted to talk to you about something but Ashton was there", Calum said while getting in the car.
"Well we are alone now so what did you want to tell me?".
I was about to get in the car when all of a sudden, Calum just started the car and drove off.
Did he just really leave me here?
I just stared at his car leaving when it suddenly came to a stop and turned. I saw it coming my way again and stop in front off me. He rolled his window down and stared at me.
"Why did you drive off like that idiot!?", I semi yelled at him.
"I thought you had gotten in until I realized I was talking to myself", he said while laughing. I just stared at him laughing.
"So are you gonna get in or what?", Calum told me while looking at me.
I blushed embarrassed and went around to get in the car.
"Let's just go home", I told him when I sat down.
"Awe you're blushing", Calum said while driving off once again. I just rolled my eyes and told him to shut up.
After a moment of silence I decided to break the silence.
"You didn't answer my question I ask earlier", I told Calum looking at him.
"What question?",
"The one of why you really came to my house", I said.
"It was something stupid, nothing important", he told me.
"Calum I already told you that if something is bothering you tell me", I told Calum seriously.
"I already fûcking told you that it was nothing important, now can we just drop it", Calum yelled at me.
I didn't say anything afterwards just nodded, I hate his attitude. One minute he's happy and the next he's so pissed off.
The rest of the car ride was silent, you could feel the tension between us both.
We finally made it to my house and Calum parked the car but nobody got off.
"Look Calum I know you may not like me fully, but I just want you to know that if you ever need someone to trust I'm here for you. If you ever need to talk to someone I'm here and I'll always be, ok", I told Calum.
He didn't respond just look straight ahead. I waited a little longer and then decided to get off knowing he wasn't going to say a thing.
I got off and went to the backseat and grab the bags and made my way to my door.
I heard a car door close and foot steps coming behind me, I knew it was Calum. I could feel his strong gaze on me and it felt weird.
I knocked on the door and waited for Ashton to open it.
"About time you guys got here, I was starting to worry", Ashton said when he open the door. I just smiled and walked in with Calum right behind me.
"So what movies did y'all bring?", Ashton asked.
"One horror and one comedy", Calum answered him.
"And we bright snacks too", I added.
"Ah great cause I sort of ate most of the pizza while y'all were gone", Ashton said laughing.
"Really dude I was really craving that pizza", Calum groaned.
"Don't worry there is still two pieces left", Ashton told Calum.
"Two pieces Ashton!? So you're telling me you ate 1 whole box and the rest of another box and left only two pieces?", I asked Ashton.
He nodded proudly like he just accomplished something and was getting recognized for it.
"Ugh, Calum if you want them you can eat them", I told Calum looking at him.
He just nodded and went to the living room where the pizza was.
"Hey babe, are you ok?", Ashton asked me following me to the kitchen.
"Yea I'm fine, why?", I asked putting the popcorn in the microwave.
"It's just you and Calum look like something happen. Did he do anything to you?", Ashton asked me.
"No nothing's wrong Ash, we're fine", I reassured him.
"Ok, just making sure", Ashton said hugging me.
"Um sorry to interrupt but I really want to watch these movies", Calum said behind us.
"Oh yea sorry", Ashton letting go of me and going to the living room.
"Hey do you need any help?", Calum asked behind me.
"Um yeah, can you bring the rest of the bags. So we can put the snacks in bowls", I told him.
"Sure", Calum said leaving the kitchen and coming back with the bags.
"Here you go",
"Thanx", it was silent until Calum spoke up.
"Look I just want to tell you that I'm sorry for my behavior earlier. I'm not used to other people other than my mom, myself, and the boys caring for me. When you told me that in the car it felt weird because I use to be such a dîck towards you and you still care for me. I also want to tell you that if you need anyone, I'm here but you also have Ashton, your sister, your mom, and the guys and I just want you to know that if none of them are there I'll be here, ok?", Calum said looking into my eyes.
I didn't say anything but hugged him instead.
"Thank you Calum that means a lot to me", I told him still hugging him.
"Hey guys hurry up I set up the movie already!" Ashton yelled from the living room.
Me and Calum pulled apart and finished putting the snacks and popcorn in bowls.
"By the way I saved you a piece of pizza", Calum told me leaving with the bowls of snacks. I giggled to myself and thought of how lucky I was to be one of the few people Calum cares about.
"About time I wanted some popcorn", Ashton said taking the bowl from me and eating it. I rolled my eyes and sat beside Ashton and he put his arm around me.
"You know I'm really glad you guys are friends now. It makes me happy that now all if us can hang out together without you two fighting", Ashton said pressing play.
I really hate horror movies and Calum picked Annabel, insisting that it was his favorite movie and that it wasn't scary.
He was wrong because by the end of the movie I was a trembling mess beside Ashton, with both of them teasing me. We decided to watch the other movie so we can get the scary one out of our heads. I had chosen this movie called Spy because I read the reviews and they all said it was a funny movie. I put it in the DVD player and sat down and pressed play.

They weren't wrong, the movie was the funniest movie I have seen. It was already a little pass 12 and we were falling asleep. I look over at Ashton and he was already asleep.
"Hey Al, are you awake?", I hear Calum ask me.
"Yea I'm still awake. Are you gonna stay here? It's kinds late", I ask him.
"I mean if it's fine with you",
"Yea it's fine come on I'll show you our guest room", I said getting up.
"You have a guest room?", Calum asked me surprised.
"Well it's my brothers old room but you know he lives on his own now", I told him.
"Oh yea I forgot you even had a brother. Where is he anyway?",
"He moved to America to finish studying and he found a girlfriend and stayed over there instead", I explained to him.
"Oh, does he ever visits?",
"Yeah he comes in holidays since that's the only time work lets him come", I said opening the door to the room.
"Oh this is a dope room", Calum said looking around.
"Yea my brother was a big fan of football and rock bands", I said looking around the old room. "This is also the room Luke had to stay in before my mom could trust him", I said laughing at how she would kick him out of Kate's room into this one.
"Your mom is really cool, I like her", Calum said jumping into the bed.
"Yea she always told me that she likes to be that cool mom",
"Yeah she is and she's so hot", Calum said looking at me.
"Ew your gross and I'm leaving. Good night Cal, have a good rest", I said turning around to leave.
"Good night Alyssa, you have a good rest too. Don't worry about Annabel who's gonna come get you", Calum teased me.
"Oh gosh shut up! I'm not gonna be able to sleep", I pouted at Calum laughing at me. I walked out and close the door, running to where the light was. I went to the living room and walked over to Ashton to wake him up.
"Ash, wake up", I said shaking him lightly.
"Go away" he groaned pushing me away.
"Fine then I guess I'll just sleep alone and you'll have nobody to cuddle with", I told Ashton.
"No no I'm up I'm up", Ashton said getting up and heading up stairs.
"I'll meet you up there let me just get some water", I told him.
"Don't take to long I'll be waiting", he told me.
I was getting water when all of a sudden I heard the door open and the sound of feet. I was going to check who it was but then I heard someone moan. I didn't have to check to see that Kate and Luke were probably chewing each other's faces off at the moment.
I decided to stay in the kitchen and finish my glass of water then going out there. After a minute or two I hear a door slam shut and not long after I hear Calum yell at someone to get the fûck out. After awhile I hear another door slam shut and now I knew it was safe. I put my glass in the sink and made my way up stairs to my room.
I open my bedroom door and right after I was being dragged towards my bed.
"Took you long enough, I was getting lonely", Ashton said.
"Sorry I was just trying to avoid walking in on my sister and Luke making out", I told him.
"I'm pretty sure they were the ones who walked in on Calum trying to sleep", Ashton said giggling.
"Yea, he's gonna be pissed in the morning", I said.
Ashton wrapped his hands around my waist and pulled me closer to him.
"Goodnight babe",
"Goodnight Ash, sleep well", I told him.
"You too", he mumbled back.
I could already hear Ashton's soft snores coming from him.
I was trying to fall asleep but I just can't, everything Calum told me just keeps on replaying in my head.
From the day he was crying to today when we were in the kitchen.
I would've never thought that Calum would be so nice and playful, until you make him mad. I always only got see the bad Calum, the bully Calum, the Calum who would push me around and other kids too. Not anymore, he still bullies other kids around and I tell him to stop but he doesn't listen. Well all four of them do but Calum's the worst.
Other people get see the bad Calum and I'm lucky enough to see the good Calum. He opened up to me and I couldn't be happier. I wouldn't have guess that Calum has been through some tough times as a kid and all he wants is acceptance. That's why he bullies people around so that he can feel good about himself.
What he told me the night he cried in front of me changed my perspective towards him. It didn't make me feel sorry for him but just angry at how people use to treat him and sometimes still do. I need to make Calum understand that hurting other people won't make him any better.
I don't know how I'm gonna do it but I'm change this reputation Calum has.
I'm gonna change this bad boy.
