"WHAT!"
My sister's screech woke me up. I frowned, rolled over on my bed and saw it's only been thirty minutes since I've seen Jacob. I was hoping my nap would last until dinner.
I shuffled downstairs, not even caring that my hair was a mess. The first thing I saw was Seth grinning at me like the big idiot he was, and Nessie pouting. I raised one eyebrow. She glared at me.
"What's wrong?" I timidly asked. Ness pouted and sat down in a huff, "Nothing. Nothing is the matter. Just congratulations!" She spat at me. I figured she was talking about the whole imprinting thing, since it was the only big event that has happened in the last day.
I just shrugged and sat down on one of the couches to watch television.
Mom looked really upset and she didn't try to hide it like she usually does. Normally, if she was sad or angry she would mask her features into a blank mask, so no one would know she was actually mad or sad. As if to protect Ness and I.
"That was a short nap, Lily. Why don't you have another one?" Dad asked. I shook my head at him and turned it back to the screen. He obviously wanted to talk more about the problem, but didn't want me in the room.
"I don't want to sleep, but I guess I could hunt." I said. I may prefer human food, but I still needed blood once in a while. And maybe, I could see Jacob. I was really regretting running away from him, I missed him so much that my heart was throbbing. Which was weird, since I met him less than an hourjis time Dad was the one to shake his head at me. I bit my lip and sighed. Stupid mind reader.
We all sat in silence, and I could feel everyone's gazes on me. I guess wondering if I was going to break down crying, knowing in some way I lost my freedom. That was how everyone, except Ness and Seth, felt. I even used to think of it that way. But now that I have been imprinted on, I don't think it will be such a bad idea. Especially since Jacob was the one to do it.
"You know, I haven't been shopping in ever! Lil's and I can go." Alice said with a devious smirk. I almost gasped in horror, I was like my mom. I hated shopping with a fury. I bit my lip, the excuse to not go right on my tongue. If I got new clothes, maybe I could impress Jacob the next time I saw him, which I hoped was soon.
I sighed and nodded my head. Mom looked like I just betrayed her darkest secret, by not putting up a fight. Alice squealed and dragged me to the car.
"Oh shoot, you need to wear something better than that! Go look in your mother's closet, find something nice. Preferably the red tank top, on the second hanger, at the left side." She said, stopping all of a sudden. I nodded my head and hurried to the cottage.
I slowed down half way there. Hybrids had and amazing sense of smell, almost like a full vampire. We always knew who's sent was whose, and I swear I just smelled Jacob. He smelled like rain and trees. I stopped now. Listening for any sort of noise, any sign to show he is here.
I turned my head and saw brown eyes, the exact shade of Jacob's. They were watching my every move. I turned my whole body to his direction and took a step forward. I now could see an outline of a huge wolf. It was Jacob, I knew it.
Jacob took a step in my direction and I could see his fur was russet brown. He was absolutely stunning. I breathed deeply and put out my hand, waiting. He practically ran to me and leaned his head into my hand. I took a deep breath and move closer, so I was leaning against him. We stayed like this, for what felt like hours, was probably minutes. This moment was perfect.
Then, my stupid mind had to go and remember that Alice was waiting for me to come in a stylish red tank top. I moved back, and Jacob looked at me concerned. "I'll... I'll be right back." I whispered and he nodded his wolfie head. I ran into the cottage and got the shirt, put it on, and sat on the bed.
I closed my eyes. I could feel his presence outside, waiting for me to come out again. I grinned, this was absolutely perfect. I wanted to stay near him forever. It was like some freaky fairytale. Like Beauty and the Beast. I was the beauty (I know I am beautiful) and he the beast.
I slowly walked out and Jacob did some sort of wolfish grin. I smiled back, than frowned. Alice is waiting.
"Jacob", he grinned again when I said his name. "I don't want to, but I have to go... shopping with my aunt." The last part was whispered, seeing his heart broken face.
I did something really bold when he whined. I hugged him. He stiffened at first, but then he relaxed and nuzzled my neck. I buried my face in his thick fur, sniffing him. He really smelt good.
A minute later I took a step back, smiled at him, and ran back to Alice.
She wrinkled her nose when she smelt me, but then she smirked and winked. I gasped. "You knew that was going to happen! Didn't you?" She laughed and nodded. "I thought you couldn't see me?" I asked, confused.
"I can't, but I'm getting better at it! Soon, I will." She said, and then pushed me into the car. I started giggling, because my life was so messed up. I had a mind reader as a Dad, a shield as a Mom, a Future seeing pixie as an aunt, and an uncle that can make me feel whatever he wants. And now, I'm soulmates with a dog.
