It has been two weeks since Kensi got shot and she still hadn't waken up. And these two weeks felt like two years to Deeks. Two weeks without seeing her beautiful smile, without listening to her not that funny jokes, even though Deeks secretly found them funny. Two weeks without her playful punches when he mentioned her obsession for donuts or cupcakes. Two weeks without the other half of him. And he missed all of that. And it felt like an eternity.
- Want a cup of coffee? - Said Sam, interrupting Deeks' deep thoughts.
- Yeah, actually a cup of coffee would be great right now. - Said Deeks, yawning.
- There you go. - Sam handed a large cup of Starbucks to the tired detective, who had barely left that damn hospital for those last two weeks. He spent the whole days there, by Kensi's side, on the phone with the team, trying to catch the son of a bitch who had shot her, but unfortunately he had run away and was out of the radar. He went home every night but came back every morning. He sat in that weird chair just by Kensi's hospital bed, had a large cup of coffee and just stared at her soft breathing and closed eyes, while talking to the guys on the phone.
- Thanks. - Thanked the blond detective, who had huge bags under his eyes and kept yawning.
- Any news on Kensi's condition? - Asked a worried Sam. They were all so worried about Kensi, she was part of every single one of them.
- Nope. The doctors don't know when or if she's going to wake up. Two weeks ago, they said she was gonna wake up soon. Turns out that was bullshit. - Replied a disappointed Deeks, gazing into distance, not making eye contact with Sam.
- Well, I guess doctors make mistakes too, right? We're all humans, Deeks. I'm not exempting them of all guilt, I'm just saying that I understand and I'm giving them a break. They're doing the best they can and you know it, 'cause Hetty hired the best doctors for this case. - Ranted Sam.
- Yeah, I know. I guess it's not their fault. I guess Kensi just needs to fight a little harder to live. It's not easy though, but I know she'll make it. She always does. - Said Deeks, now looking at Sam.
- Now, that's the spirit! Now, I gotta tell you something.
- Sure, what's up? - Asked a curious Deeks.
- We got a lead on the guy that shot Kensi. We believe he's a killer by hire, and that Kensi was his specific target. Someone really wanted Kensi dead. - Sighed Sam, with a concerned look.
- Well, they failed, I guarantee you that. And when Kensi wakes up, she's gonna kick both those guys asses, believe me. - Said Deeks, letting out a soft smile. That was his reaction everytime he thought of his badass Blye. He missed her so damn much.
- No doubt there! - Said Sam, letting out a soft laugh too. At that moment, he just wanted to cheer Deeks up, and himself too.
They were kinda laughing when the doctor came into the room and interrupted them.
- Gentlemen, I've got news about your friend's condition. We already know if she's gonna wake out of coma or not... - Said the doctor, with a confusing face that left Deeks and Sam wondering if Kensi was ever gonna wake out of the damn coma or not.
