Chapter Ten: Deserved answers

...

Tammy’s P.O.V

This was not how I had planned. Things weren’t supposed to go like this, not even in my worst case scenario. And I just.. I wasn’t sure how to handle it. Explaining to Harry had terrified me before, but I hadn’t even gotten the chance to attempt that before everything went wrong.

But the one thing that I had never expected to have to do, was to explain it all to Harry’s bandmate Louis.

I drew in a deep breath as I tried to collect my thoughts, watching the back of a brunet head as the boy put the kettle on. As much as I may have wanted to, I wasn’t going to ignore Louis. After how accepting he’d been to me and how loyal he’d been to Harry, he deserved answers.  It was just a scary thing to have to give them to him.

The clattering of a spoon echoed loudly in the otherwise deathly silent kitchen and the tolerant singer turned back around with a cup of tea in his hand. I tried to pretend that I didn’t notice the way his grey-blue irises flickered up towards my wings immediately, an overwhelmed look crossing over his features. It must be startling for him to see after having met me the first time without. It would probably be a while before he was able to get used to it. I might have made them disappear for him if I had the energy, but after the turmoil of today; I honestly didn’t.

As Louis passed the cup of hot drink that he’d made into my perpetually cold hands, I smiled softly. “Thank you.” I said quietly. Louis just nodded, running a hand through his hair as he averted his gaze. I wondered how well he was really taking all this. I mean, here I was sitting in his kitchen with a white set of angel wings, nonchalantly sipping my tea. Meanwhile, his best friend lay in the room next door, unconscious and possibly in a lot of pain. You had to be a special kind of person to be able to cope with that the way that Louis seemed to be.

“Is Harry going to be alright?”

I looked up at the unexpected question and frowned slightly when I realised that there was no way for me to give him a definite answer. At the very least, I had been right in my assumption that Harry was lucky to have Louis for a friend.

“It’s.. it’s hard to answer that.” I said in a small voice, feeling bad when I saw the worry that was so clear in the older boy’s eyes. I wondered if my own eyes held something similar. When Louis didn’t utilize his voice again and the kitchen once more filled with a contemplative but not quite uncomfortable silence, I knew that I had to speak up.

“Alright, I’m going to try and explain this to you, Louis. But it’s.. It’s complicated. Okay? So just, just have a little patience for me.” Louis nodded, his eyes once more portraying his emotions and giving away how badly he wanted an explanation. I stared back into those eyes for a second, assessing them. Satisfied that Louis was prepared to hear this, I began.

“Okay. The first thing that you need to know is that just because I’m an angel that does not mean that I am dead. I have never died nor do I plan to any time soon.” I smiled softly to see the amused look on Louis face before I went on. “The second thing that I should probably tell you is that I’m not religious-,” Louis gave an indignant snort and I raised an eyebrow at the sound. Louis shook his head in apparent disbelief. “You’re an angel! Shouldn’t you believe in God?” He said, as if I were messing with him. I sent the admittedly-handsome teen an unimpressed look. “If you’ll let me continue…”

Louis nodded, replacing his smile with an attentive look that I resisted the urge to roll my eyes at before I started back up again. “Angels aren’t what everyone thinks. We’re not products of god, or saints or anything like that. It’s more like we’re a different species, but I don’t like to think of it like that. As far as I’m concerned there is simply no difference between a human and an angel, apart from the wings.” I took in a deep breath, seeing that Louis was intent in his listening.
