Chapter Eighteen: When we were Kids
…
Tammy’s P.O.V
Harry gave me an odd look, seeming confused by my question. I let slip a both slight and soft sigh as I made to clarify. “When you made your wings invisible, I told you that you had to focus on a really happy memory.” Harry’s eyes widened slightly in understanding and he began to nod at my words. “Whatever that memory was, it was strong. Really strong. I had to have been for you to not only be able to make your wings intangible, but to also keep it up for so long.” Harry looked at me, a soft smile forming on his lips. I watched on in confusion as he began to blush.
“Why are you blushing?”
I asked him, honestly wanting an answer. Harry’s previously light blush darkened immensely and he looked down at his lap, appearing to be bitting the inside of his cheek. Now, my curiosity was properly burning.
“It was actually,” I gave a cough to clear his throat, lifting a hand to rub the back of his neck in evident embarrassment. “It was actually about you.”
Whatever I might’ve been expecting the memory to be about, that was certainly something that had never factored into my thoughts. About me? His happiest memory was one with me?
I blinked twice in surprise, a slight smile upturning the corners of my lips as it truly sunk in.
“What memory was it?” I asked, hoping for further clarification. Harry let out a sound that sounded like a short, of amused huff before looking back into my eyes. “It was the first day that we met.”
I faltered.
“But that was terrifying, are we recalling the same thing?” I sent Harry a disbelieving look to which Harry full on grinned and shook his head. “We’re definitely remembering the same thing.” He said; voice on the verge of ending in a chuckle.
I waited, intrigued for Harry to go on. After a further moment of my silence, he eventually did.
“Don’t think about how us meeting started, think about how it ended.”
And I did.
….
I screamed out.
“Please, is anybody there?!”
The Rain, it was so strong. So heavy. I couldn’t- I couldn’t get out of it. It was just to overpowering. I didn’t know what to do, where to go. How to escape. I was trapped. How did this happen? I was only walking home from school. And it was only supposed to be this one time, just this once. Mummy was so busy with work and Daddy was out of town on some business meeting that was just as important.
So I said that I could walk home on my own. It would only be once and my Mother and Father kept telling me that I was more grown up then other kids my age. So, I thought it only made sense.
I really wish that it hadn’t now.
I really do.
Because what was supposed to be such a simple thing, was now so far from it.
But there had been no way for me to know about the sudden storm. There hadn’t even been any kind of warning. One minute it seemed that the day was sunny, if not a little cold. Then, the next, it was pouring rain so heavily that I was soaked from head to toe and frightened. No, terrified. And I couldn’t see any way out of this. Every way I looked; every way I turned there was only more rain.
