November 23-24
Finding themselves surrounded and down to three, it was hard to ignore the smugness radiating off of Phantom for being right once more. They would have been in big trouble had he not come along. Though, maybe, had two not run off without permission...
Nevermind that, there were more important issues at hand. Issues such as red laser things being pointed right at them. Staying hidden, Phantom did as promised. With aerial support and a few well placed shields, the fight was over before they could cause too much damage. Maybe nabbing one of these funky little blaster things would be a good idea, but maybe it would get the owner chasing after them like what happened with Conner and Sphere.
The fancy tech could wait. What couldn't wait was finding Harjavti's daughter. Each taking a side, KF took one as Phantom went through the attached rooms on the other. Robin stayed by the man himself, trying to not stress too hard as they felt the mind link go down.
Sensing something was off, the resident speedster and ghost quickly made their way back. Luckily Kid had found the daughter, Noor Harjavti, and a few of her personal guard who were in their own rescue mission.
"That makes for everybody." Robin muttered as he finished up trying the militia together. His eyes scanned over the room, the soldiers and the Harjavti's. They were as safe as could be, but he had no idea if the same could be said for their missing two rascals.
"Thank you for saving my father." Noor stood from checking over her father. His eyes were still glassy, but they were clearing up faster now that his daughter was around. Whatever Psimon had done to his mind was taking it's time to leave his system. "We will take care of him now." Her dismissal came at no better time as the clock was ticking. Any second longer without the mind link coming back and no radio check was a second too long without communications.
"I'll stay here." Phantom called out when Robin turned to leave. "With all due respect, ma'am, we don't know if they'll send more people after your father." Robin watched his brother float to the ground, hovering just an inch above. His glow was dimming a little, though more stable than before. His constant sniffling was giving him no reassurance, but making a stink about it now would only look worse. A little rest would probably do him good without needing to call out his current injured-short comings.
Nodding, he fully turned to face the Harjavti's. "Please see this as no slight to your people. The enemy has access to weaponry from another planet. With Earth defenses, it's a matter of when, not if, they will succeed. At the very least he can get you to safety quickly." His claims were clearly heard and understood, the proof still lying unconscious or in a pile off to the side. The soft droop in Noor's shoulders as her posture relaxed proved the offer to be a good idea.
Watching Robin and Kid Flash leave, Phantom hovered near the windows. Fading into half-invisibility, he made sure to leave as little of a shadow as possible while taking up a surveying position. The outside looked calm, well secured, but hiding the turmoil happening inside. It felt a bit too much of a call out, but such was life after all.
He had wondered why he hadn't spotted any of his people yet. Usually there was at least one wandering soul, especially in bigger cities. But he couldn't just write it off under cultural differences until he actually continued his ghost-studies. Frostbite had tried to explain the effects of living culture on the dead, but they hadn't gotten quite far.
Perhaps he could slowly ease into it later. Once human school was sorted of course. Bruce had warned him his entrance-placement testing day was coming up soon and getting into the classes he wanted was currently more important than figuring out what flavor of death was hanging in the air. He had high standards to live up to after all, and the tests happening right before midterms was just the cherry on the cake.
