Piper's First Year:
"Bye Mum!" I waved cheerily to my mother who I was leaving for my first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
"Don't forget to write, Piper!" She exclaimed. I grinned and kept waving until the scarlet Hogwarts Express departed from platform 9 3/4 in Kings Cross and turned a corner.
My owl, Robin, screeched in her cage as I set her upon the floor of the train compartment I sat in. I bought Robin a month ago from Diagon Alley. She was a small, brown owl with wide orange eyes. I loved her, despite the fact she was a nuisance.
"Shut that owl up, will you, Piper? It's doing my head in." Lucas, my older brother, snapped at me. I sighed, rolling my eyes. Lucas was entering his fourth yearning Slytherin house, and at only fourteen years old he was a famous quidditch star, known all over the UK. He's a backup player for the Tutshill Tornados and hopes to be a permanent member of the actual team. It's crazy but it's true.
"Shh, Robin, shh..." I soothed Robin into a calm state. In a minute she was silent. Lucas carried on talking to his mates. A sudden wave of boredom crashed over me. I have to find my friends, or other first years to sit with.
I collected my trunk and Robin's cage, dragging both of them behind me as I reached the compartment door. "Where you off to?" Marcus Flint, a third year Slytherin and one of Lucas's friends asked.
"Off to find my friends." I replied, sliding the door open.
"Remember to change into your robes." Lucas called out to me.
I walked further down the train until I spotted two familiar people chatting away. I opened their compartment door and startled them by exclaiming "Blaise! Pansy!" My friends turned their heads and smiled at me.
"Hey, Piper." Blaise coolly greeted. Blaise Zabini was a tall, dark skinned boy who inherited his good looks from his mother. I have been best friends with Blaise since we were three and will always remain best friends.
"PIPER!" Pansy threw her arms around me. Pansy Parkinson was my best friend since birth. We were close and knew everything about each other. She was my twin sister I never had. We've grown up together and both met Blaise together, at an old event that Pansy's parents had held.
"Hey guys, how was your summer?" I asked, settling down. The two of them told me about their individual adventures, which seemed pretty awesome compared to mine.
"What about you? How was your summer?" Blaise questioned. I sighed. I don't really go on holiday or go to parties and do fun things like that. My father was tortured and died when I was only one, a death I had witnessed. He was a Death Eater, a loyal follower of He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named and was killed by another Death Eater who was jealous of his loyalty.
Since my father meant the world to my mother, she had completely shut down and brought a dark, gloomy cloud over Lucas and me. Even though we were rich and were famous because of Lucas, she still was unhappy. She was getting slightly better, but she made mistakes to try and get over my father that affected Lucas and I.
"Um, my stepdad left..." I said. He was my stepdad for six years, and nearly three weeks ago he packed his bags and left for Egypt. Why, I don't know. I never liked him anyway, so I was absolutely fine about it.
"Oh... We're sorry, Piper." Pansy gave me a reassuring smile.
"Oh I'm fine. I hated him anyway. Anything new happened?" I changed the subject, and through the whole ride to Hogwarts Blaise, Pansy and I talked about the most random things until we needed to change into our robes.
