The Great Hall was as grand as ever; the enchanted ceiling was a sparkling starry swirl, the floating candles lit up the whole hall and the four house tables lined with mounts of food made the air smell divine-I really missed Hogwarts over the summer.
I was eating with my group of friends (including Daphne Greengrass, Millicent Bulstrode, Tracey Davis and Theodore Nott). Even my brother chose to sit near us with his mates.
We were all talking about our summer when Draco noticed that Harry Potter had sat down.
"Hey Potter!" He called. Harry turned around, along with Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley and a few other Gryffindors.
Draco then re-enacted Harry fainting on the Hogwarts Express, due to the Dementor. Word got out that Harry had such a reaction, and Draco found it as another way to annoy Potter. The Slytherins were all in hysterics.
I, on the other hand, sat there emotionless. To be honest, I wasn't into the 'let's be assholes to everyone' thing anymore. I've got other things on my mind, things I've been keeping bottled inside me whilst I haven't been able to tell anyone-one of those things is about that one boy.
Ever since mum's been out 24/7 and I've mostly been left alone, all the things I've wanted to say to someone have been terrorising me and bringing me down. It brought my confidence to a low level and made extremely self-conscious. I need to get out of here.
I stood up and quickly walked away from the table. Hopefully I've been unnoticed, and shall remain that way for the next few years at Hogwarts. As I reached the Slytherin Dungeons, I remembered something: I didn't know the password!
"Pureblood?" I asked.
"No. That's last years." The gargoyle at the common room entrance said.
"You use it every bloody year!" I snapped.
"Merlin." A voice said behind me. I whipped around to see Draco Malfoy looking at me with his icy grey eyes. The entrance rumbled open, revealing the corridor leading to the common room.
"Thanks." I said, staring at the floor.
"Let's go inside." We both walked together to the common room. Why was Draco here?
Once we arrived in the common room I picked up my pace and headed for the stairs leading to the girls' dorms. I was on the first step when Draco grabbed my arm. It sent tingles gown my spine, a usual feeling I experience every time I encounter Draco.
"Let me go, Malfoy." I declared.
"Not until you tell me what's wrong." He said.
"I'm tired, I want to sleep."
"So you call burying your head in a book and reading for hours sleeping?"
I turned my head towards him and glared at him. Can't be just mind his own business and carry on being the annoying got he is?
"No, I won't carry on being annoying. There's something up with you." Oh great. I think I said that aloud.
Draco's POV
"Can't you just mind your own business and carry on being the annoying git you are?" Piper hissed.
She just called me annoying. That hit me, somewhere. If it was someone else I wouldn't care, but with Piper it was different. I think I like-love her. But I know I can't be with her, I'll end up breaking her heart one way or another.
"No, I won't carry on being annoying. There's something up with you." I told her. A sudden realisation hit her, as if what she had said a few seconds ago was meant to be a thought.
"Let me go before I hex you." Piper snapped. She drew her wand and clutched it tightly, her knuckles turning white. I was reluctant, I want to know what's going on with her.
"Nope. You really think threatening me with one of your pathetic hexes is going to make me leave you?"
Piper looked so done with me. I can't follow her up the stairs. Boys aren't allowed in the girls' dorms, however girls are allowed in the boys dorms. Whenever a boy tries to climb up the stairs they transfigured into a slide.
We were both silent for a bit. My hand was still gripped around Piper's wrist. Piper was staring up the stairway. I don't think she wanted to look at me. Why?
