When I awoke it was dead of night. And I felt dead.
I was so groggy and I couldn't see anything but I realized that something woke me up. I heard a thud beside me and I grabbed towards that direction.
I felt jeans and tugged on them. The owner of the jeans fell forward and groaned.
Finally adjusting to the darkness, I walked over to Mr. Tree boy.
I sat on his back and grabbed at his hand. I tugged the coin away and realized it was just a nickel.
"Say sorry now." I demanded.
The boy groaned again but with more annoyance.
"I said, Say sorry." I repeated.
"Sorry." The boy muttered.
"What? I couldn't hear you." I said as I mimed being deaf.
"SORRY!" The boy yelled and I jumped.
I helped him up and held his wrist tightly. I placed the nickel into my Messenger bag.
"Now you have to take me to your house."
"What?" He mumbled.
"You stole something from me. And I don't have a house so I'm staying at yours." I explained.
"I don't even know your name!" The boy exclaimed.
"I'm Evelyn. What's your name, Tree Boy?"
"Billy."
"No it's not."
"Yes it is!"
"That's an ugly name. I'm calling you Tree Boy. Now where is your house?"
Tree Boy led me to an alley with a rusty ladder. He climbed up in front of me and I found myself on top of a roof.
