Connie was about to give up any hope of ever seeing Dean again when there was a knock on her door. She opened the door and Dean stood there, she rushed into his arms and he held her tightly.
They had a quiet evening together, had a bite to eat and then watched a film on the tv. At the end of the film Dean turned to her.
"Next weekend I'm heading over to my parents, why don't you come along with me, they will love to meet you. We can leave here Friday evening, stay over and return Saturday evening. If you want to that is, I won't force you."
Connie felt a little awkward but knew she couldn't refuse. She also knew this was his way of trying to deal with the situation, to see if she met his family then she would be obliged to introduce him to hers.
She knew this day would come, so a little reluctantly she replied, "Yes that sounds like a lovely idea."
.................
Monday morning she woke up refreshed. Dean had left shortly after their conversation and she had gone straight to bed.
She looked forward to a good week at work and as Dean was going to be quite busy this week they weren't going to meet up until Friday. She would have to check through her wardrobe to see what she was going to wear, she wanted to make the right impression. Still she had the whole week to worry about that one, for now she needed to get ready and start the week at the shop.
...............
Friday came all too quickly and before she realised it she was headed back to her apartment to pack the last things and be ready for Dean. He was coming round at 2pm to collect her and they were then headed over to his parents house. Apparently this was about an hour's drive away. They lived in a country house just on the outskirts of town. The house had been in their family for over a hundred years. She was looking forward to seeing the house and meeting his family.
............
They arrived just after 3pm, the sky was starting to darken with thick clouds and it looked as though a strong storm was brewing. Dean got out the car and rang the bell by the side of the gate, almost immediately the large iron gates started to swing open, Dean hopped back into the car and drive through. The driveway curved round a few leafy trees and within a minute a rather magnificent house stood in front of them. The drive opened up to a circular patio with a tree in the middle and garages down one side. Dean drove towards the garages and left the car in front of the middle one.
They got out the car and retrieved their bags from the boot, as Dean closed the boot they looked up and saw his parents waiting by the front door. They walked up to the door and greeted each other. Dean's mother gave Connie a big, friendly hug and Dean's father shook her hand in a more formal fashion. Mary, Dean's mother, hurried them all into the house, "Come on, let's get in by the fire, looks as though a storms brewing" she said as they made their way into the house and headed for the kitchen.
.....................
Connie felt so happy on the way home Saturday night, the weekend had been an enormous success, Dean's parents had been so lovely and had taken an instant liking to her and she to them. They were friendly, warm and inviting, she really couldn't have asked for more. Dean was over joyed that everyone had gotten on so well, he couldn't have hoped for a better outcome to what had turned out to be a fabulous weekend!
