My eyes snapped open at the sound of chatting.
It was Grant's voice and an unknown male. As curious I am, I slowly walked down the stairs and entered the kitchen to find Grant speaking with a blonde guy.
"Eleanor, this is Nick, he and his sister just moved in next door" Grant introduced as he passed me a cup of tea.
"Nick this is Eleanor, my girlfriend" he introduced.
"Hey" I waved as I walked over to the couch and scrolled through my phone while sipping on my tea. I had a bad feeling about this guy, but then again, I am no psychologist.
I had received a text from Chris asking if he and his son, Barry could spend the night here.
Of course I was fine with that, as they spent most nights here.Andrea didn't make it when she was giving birth. She was too young, and not physically ready to give birth, though the baby needed to come out. She was given a choice, it's either her or the baby. In my opinion, those were cruel choices, I mean aren't the doctors supposed to save lives? Not end them. Of course being the amazing person she is, she chose her child.
Barry never got to meet his mother. It's pretty depressing actually. But I made a promise to Andrea, I will always be there for Barry, and be his female guardian. As well as Chris of course, but he wasn't too stable at first, he's not still as stable as he should be. But of course, I was always there to help.
Some days Barry would stay at my house for days, but I really didn't mind. I was beyond glad that Chris would always call me up when he thinks he's falling into that dark hole again and he needs help.
Barry is four months younger than Harvey and Hayes, and their the best of friends in nursery. I'd always pick them up while Grant and Chris were at work.
I quit my job to have more time to look after my kids, but now that they've started school I managed to convince my dad to let me have a job at his company where I work morning shifts instead of full day shifts, I work from 8 in the morning till 3 in the afternoon. Grant however still works at Davis Industries and works from 12 till 8 in the afternoon. But I could tell that he really loves his job.
I could hear the running footsteps of Harvey and Hayes as they ran into the living room. Harvey took a seat on my lap and curled into a ball.
"G'morning mummy" He mumbled as he ran his hand through his messy hair.
"Hey Harves, how'd you sleep?" I asked as I looked at his tired face.
"It was okay, but Hayes woke me up" he pouted.
"aw" I grinned. "Well Barry's coming for his sleepover today" I smiled at him as Hayes ran into the kitchen.
"But sleepover day is on fwiday, and today is wednesday" He looked a me with confusion. It was true, Barry, Harvey and Hayes's sleepovers occurred every friday. I would collect Barry for school, just like every morning, but take his bags and leave them in the car while I go to work.
"Well, he's going to stay for extra days" I cheered.
"Okay get your uniform on and mummy will get you breakfast and then we can go an collect Barry and uncle Chris" I smiled as Harvey ran up he stairs.
I looked into the kitchen to find Nick still here and Grant making breakfast.
"I'm going to get ready for work" I announced.
Grant walked over to me a placed a kiss on my lips before taking the empty cup out of my hand. From the corner of my eyes I could see Nick ranking his eyes up and down my body. Gross.
I walked up to my room and pulled on some clothes (picture above). I walked out of the front door and waited for the kids to be ready. I reached into my pocket and pulled out a lighter and cig before lighting it up and taking a deep puff.
I put it out as the kids walked out with grins on their faces. Grant looked at the cig on the floor then back at me with a disappointed look on his face.
"I'm going to hang out with Nick" He pushed past me.
What the fuck?
