◇ Kanae entered her house, her face barely dry from tears. She took a shower, changed her clothes, had dinner, and tidied up her home, yet her tears never stopped flowing for a single moment. When she walked into her room and saw the bouquet of flowers gifted to her by the man from the forest, she picked it up, still weeping and sobbing heavily. Every falling tear was heavy with pain, heartbreak, guilt, and defeat. She sat down, re-reading the letter she had previously found among the roses, crying for hours. At midnight, she wiped her tears, then untied the bouquet, freeing the roses and placing them in water so they wouldn't wither. She set them right next to the roses previously sent by the Kage. She looked at the two vases with deep sorrow.

Kanae: "Why?! How?! Why?!!" She sobbed, looking with heartbreak at the mountain of books, notebooks, and summaries she had dedicated to studying, as well as her tools and desk. She then looked at her purchases from the party that day. Picking up the shopping bag, she stared at a picture she had bought for the wall and the rest of what she had purchased. She smiled bitterly, hugging everything tight as she wept lines of fire. "Why?! Why must I live in misery and wretchedness?"

◇ Leaving the shopping bag behind, she looked once more at the mountain of textbooks. She approached it, barely able to see ahead of her, pulled out the physics materials, and placed them on the desk next to the pencil case. Suddenly, she lost control of her nerves; she kicked the pile forcefully, sending it crashing to the ground as she screamed at the top of her lungs. Her scream carried the absolute depths of agony. She tore the notebooks into shreds and began striking everything around her, even herself, while crying out:
Kanae: "Useless! All of you were useless! None of this has any value! I exhausted myself, worked hard, and deprived myself of sleep and rest, only to end up with this wretched, disgraceful grade! There is no difference between me and those who only put effort in during the final months! In fact, the results leveled the playing field between me and those who never studied at all! Worse, some who never even opened a book got high grades through cheating! This is insulting! What value does effort have if only the cheaters get high grades? Damn you all! Damn Orochimaru! Damn Orochimaru a thousand times!"
