Pepper’s P.O.V

I found out yesterday that I was going to become a werewolf; I would shift in a couple of weeks or days. Sam and I talked this morning and he said that it was my temper that would set him off. Almost everything that someone said to me made me snap back at them even if it was a compliment.

“You look better this morning” Emily said to me as she gave me a bowl of eggs.

“What so every other morning I look like shit, thanks Em.” I retorted with sarcasm. She just looked at me with sad eyes. “Sorry, I didn’t sleep well and I’m grumpy’

“Its fine love, don’t fret too much please.” Was all she said? After eating my breakfast I asked Sam if I could go into Forks to see if they had a studio there. He told me that there was one at the school here on the res, it turns out it was more of a sports hall with wooden floorboard. But it had several mirrors along one side and a beam for when people dance at school.

I got into my normal routine for warm ups. And a few minutes later I was starting the dance that broke my ankle. Just as I was about to do the jump I froze. I couldn’t do it, I broke down into tears. The floor vibrated when a heavy mass was making its way towards me.

Seth took me in his arms and hugged me till I stopped sobbing into his shirt. Looking up into his beautiful worry filled eyes I saw that he had unshed tears in his eyes. “Why are you crying for?” I asked him through sniffles and hiccups.

“You dancing… it’s… breathtaking. Who taught you to dance?” he asked as a tear cascaded down his left cheek. I caught it just before it was going to fall off his perfect jaw.

“I don’t know, she is the same woman that I don’t remember.” I said then more memories came back.

A young woman showing me the positions of ballet, of the jumps involved in Swan Lake, the hand movements in a first position duck. I was only four at the time of the last memory. Then out of nowhere I hugged her. “Thanks Mummy!” I squealed as a little girl.

I was brought out of my memories as I began to shake. There was pain in my lower legs as I tried to move out of Seth’s hold. He saw the look of utter fear on my face and realised what was happening, he picked me up and sped out of the sports hall and into the thick forest where there was an awaiting Leah in wolf form, her eyes were a dead giveaway.

Seth ran with a pitiful me in his hands all the way till we got to Sam and Emily’s house. Just as he crossed the threshold pain was everywhere, my lower leg snapped causing me to scream out in pain. Sam came rushing down the hallway and into the living room where Seth had rested with me on the couch.

“Bring her outside, I will get blankets. Go.” He urged Seth towards the kitchen. He moved as if someone lit a fire under him. We were outside when I heard voices.

Your fine, you’re just going through the first shift. Don’t worry.

It hurts now, but it will get better we promise.

It’ll be okay Pepp.

Were with you the whole way.

I didn’t bother and try to sort out who was who. The voices all sounded the same anyway. Sam had just came running out the kitchen door with thick blankets in his hands, he put them on the floor then shifted right in front of Seth and I.
