nighttime troubles

After a fun day with the twins and my best ever friend Maria, we had to go home...
"Hi uncle Bud, we're back!" I said moving towards my room the speed of a guilty person. "Stop right there young lady!" Bud screeched. Shit. I Turned around and gave him a smile. "Yes uncle Bud." Maria gave me a sympathetic smile. She never got in trouble. "You girls haven't been to the Mystery Shack have you?" He glared at me. "Why do you ask?" I said innocently. "No reason." He simply stated and watched me attentively. Luckily I've been in this situation before and I know how not to act suspicious. "Okay." I said and walked to my room. Maria followed close-by.
"Why did you lie to Uncle Bud?" Maria asked with her hands on her hips. I shrugged and sat down on the bed. "Wasn't it fun?" I asked with an evil smile. "Was what fun?" Maria asked with wide eyes. "Breaking the rules and going to the Mystery Shack?" I said and laid down on my stomach. "Well... yeah it was kind of." Maria said with a look of guilt. "Exactly why I lied." I said closing my eyes. "Don't do it again." Maria scolded. "They can't keep me prisoner forever Maria!"
