Emma's Point of View
I opened my eyes and looked at the clock, id been sleeping for about 2 hours. I sighed, sitting up, my back cracking from being in a hunched up position for so long. I looked at Dans, tanned and bruised face. Still unconscious. Although i was sure i'd felt him squeeze my hand earlier. Maybe i just dreamt it.
I stood up, placed a small kiss on dans cheek, let go of his hand and walked back out into the corridor and down to the waiting room. Everyone looked up.
"Did he wake up?" Phil asked cautiously.
"No. Still unconscious." I sighed, sitting down in an uncomfortable chair next to Hayley, "Guys.. What.. What if hes brain dead... They.. They said that if he is.. Its us that have to switch his.. life support off. Guys.. I cant.. I just.. Cant"
"We'll think of that If it happens. Which it won't. Dan won't be brain dead, well, not anymore than he normally is." Dougie smiled, "Hes just being lazy.. You know how much he likes sleep"
"Yeah... Guys. We should probably be heading home. My flat mate will be wondering where i am" Rhona sighed.
"I.. I think im gonna stay here" i muttered.
"Emma. You need to sleep. You'll make yourself sick. How will dan feel if when he wakes up and we have to tell him you're hospitalised by making yourself ill waiting for him to wake up?" Hayley asked.
"Yeah.. But theres a chair in his room and a starbucks on the ground floor. Ill be fine.. You guys go home and sleep."
Eventually, after a lot of persuasion, everyone left. Its not that i didn't want them to be here. Its just.. I knew Dan wouldn't want everyone just camped out waiting for him.
I walked back into his room, sitting down next to him. His head was facing the window. Was it always that way? I thought he was lying facing the ceiling? Maybe not. No. Dont be stupid Emma. You're just giving yourself false hope.
I picked up his hand again and sighed lightly.
"Dan. Hurry up and open your damn eyes you lazy git."
"Thats no way to speak to the injured".. A small voice croaked.
I jumped.
"D.. Dan?" I asked.
His head turned, his eyes squinting at the bright lights.
"That.. Would be me." He replied.
I leapt forward, wrapping my arms around his neck, my eyes closing, tears streaming down my face. I felt his hand reach up from his side and rest on my back, returning my hug, the hospital wristband slightly digging into my spine.
"I..I...im so glad you're awake." I said quietly into his ear.
"Me too." He murmured back softly, his head resting on my shoulder.
I pulled back a bit and saw his face too, was streaked with tears. He saw me looking at them and wiped them off with the back of his hand.
I sat back in the chair and clasped my hands in my lap, looking down at them.
"Dan.. I. Im sorry" i sighed
"Sorry? What for?" He asked as i glanced up, a concerned expression on his face.
"For.. Calling social" i mumbled.
"You what?" He asked, his eyes flashing.
"I.. Called Social.. Thats how we found you.. And stopped him from kill..."
"YOU WHAT?! I TOLD YOU NOT TO CALL THEM!" He interrupted, his voice loud, angry... But somehow scared.
"I.. I.. Didnt know what else to do."
"YOU SHOULD OF LEFT ME!" He screamed, the beeping of the heart monitor speeding up, "I WOULD BE BETTER OFF DEAD!"
I looked up at him, shocked.
"You.. What..."
He realised what he'd said.
"I'd be better off dead" he repeated, his eyes no longer angry, but filled with a look so sincere it made me want to cry.
"Dan.. Thats not true."
"YES IT IS!" ,The anger returned, "AND IF IT WASNT FOR YOU ID BE DEAD! ID FINALLY BE HAPPY!"
I stared at him, tears falling onto my clasped hands. He looked up, locking his eyes on mine.
"get out."
"W..what?" I asked, my voice cracking.
"GET THE HELL OUT OF MY ROOM! I DONT WANT YOU HERE EMMA!" He yelled.
I stood up, and for the second time, i ran away from him. I ran down the corridor a bit and leant against the wall. Sliding down it, i rested my head on my knees, my back shaking with sobs.
Ive ruined his life. Of course he doesnt want me. Nobody does.
