Ciel never spoke to me about what Sebastian had found out. I didn't even know if Sebastian had told him, though I figured he had. It was irritating not to know. Sebastian didn't say a word to me about it again afterwards. I knew it was going to be brought up again eventually, but I waited for it. For the time being, I didn't want to speak with Sebastian at all.
It wasn't even a week later when Ciel was called to London and decided to take all the servants with him. It surprised me, but I was ecstatic. I absolutely loved London! Though it would be cold when we were there, I didn't care. Perhaps I would get to go into the city. The only really bad thing was that we would be there during Christmas, so it would be extremely busy with rude people.
We were all staying at Ciel's townhouse in London. He hadn't actually told us why we were there, but Mey-Rin thought it was because he had a case to solve.
Bard had told me earlier that Ciel was the Queen's Guard Dog. If something was upsetting the Queen or a case was making her troubled, Ciel would be sent in to stop whatever was happening and find the people accountable for it. Apparently, it was an inherited title. Earl Vincent Phantomhive had also been the Queen's Guard Dog for quite some time before dying. I swear, Ciel and I were becoming more alike every second.
It was night when Ciel had finally returned on our first day there, most likely after checking the crime scene. I wasn't sure if I was allowed to ask. Perhaps I could have asked Martin and he would have known about the case. He did like to keep tabs on things of that nature.
We all walked into the foyer and I bowed, "Welcome home, my lord." The others said their greetings as well as Sebastian removed Ciel's coat.
"I'll never get any peace if I'm called to London for every silly little thing," Ciel complained.
The door suddenly opened and a man said, "My lord, you're really here!" He was Chinese and wore a traditional Chinese jacket. His eyes appeared close, so I was a little confused on how he could see anything. Then, I realized his eyes were half open.
Ciel demanded, "You're just dropping in here unannounced?!" So, he did know the man. "How often have I told you to least send a note before you visit?!"
"Ah, I vaguely remember that," he laughed as he walked inside. He looked directly at me. "Do you have a new maid?"
"Yes, I hired her a few weeks ago," Ciel answered.
Sebastian introduced him, "This is Lau. He is the head of the British trading company, Kon Ron." I knew that name well. Martin often worked with them. Actually, I vaguely remembered seeing him at the mansion a few times, which worried me. At the same time, he was an opium dealer, so he might have been drugged at those times.
"I'm Willow Porter. It is a pleasure to meet you," I bowed. He moved in front of me and placed a finger under my chin, making me tilt my head so he could look at my face better. He was a me few inches taller, after all.
"And where did you find this one? She's so pretty," Lau complimented. I blushed.
