It was about a week into October now. Draco knew exactly how he would ask Hermione to the ball. He just needed some Gryffindor courage.
They walked down to breakfast then went their separate ways.
Hermione sat with Harry and Ginny.
Draco sat with his friend, Blaise, and Pansy Parkinson.
"Why have you been hanging around Granger?" Pansy whisper-shrieked.
"Because she's my friend." Draco answered simply, trying to keep his temper in check.
"You are friends with that mudblood!" Pansy yelled. Everyone heard.
"Don't ever call her that again, Parkinson. She is so much nicer than you will ever be. How dare you." Draco yelled.
McGonagall came over now.
"Miss Parkinson, fifty points from Slytherin, for that language. In my office now."
Then Pansy left for the office.
Draco walked to Hermione's table.
"Are you okay." Draco asked giving her a hug.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I don't really care."
"I'm so sorry for all the times I called you that, Mione." Draco said.
"It's fine." Hermione laughed.
She was so happy, he called her by her nickname.
"And you, Potter. I'm sorry for anything I've done to you. Can we be friends, for Hermione." Draco asked, turning to Harry.
"Sure, mate. But if you ever hurt her I will personally get revenge." Harry said, shaking Draco's hand.
The next day Draco had his plan.
"Hermione go get dressed. I have a surprise." Draco said.
Hermione came back down in muggle clothes. It was Saturday, no uniforms.
Draco grabbed Hermione's hand and led her to the black lake.
Her hand fit perfectly in his. She thought her heart would beat out of her chest.
When they stopped Hermione saw a little picnic blanket with a basket next to it.
"Ta da. It's a picnic, by the way."
"Way to point out the obvious. But thank you." Hermione said..
Then they say down and ate.
"Hermione I have something to ask you. Willyougototheballwithme. Please."Draco said.
"Repeat please." Hermione said.
She couldn't hear him he spoke so fast.
"Will you, Hermione Jean Granger, go to the ball with me. And not as a last resort." He said hopefully.
Hermione was quiet for a moment.
Then she jumped in his arms.
"Yes, a million times yes." Hermione whispered in his ear.
Draco felt this was the happiest moment in his life.
He picked Hermione up and spun her around.
The next day Harry and Draco, and Ginny and Hermione went to shop for an outfit to the ball.
Hermione's dress was a sea green.
It was so pretty no words could describe it.
(A/N: It is the picture. I can't figure out how to put two pictures so I will put Ginny's in the next chapter.)
Ginny got a navy blue dress. It had a bow in the middle. It was beautiful, too.
They were both excited for the ball.....
