Chapter Nine: The Time

The walls of the haunting hospital reflected on Zero's blank mood. Dull, emptiness, and sorrow.

Zero had closed his eyes momentarily, blocking out the bile that was rising.

After waking up a few days ago, he had been feeling nauseous and had extremely bad cases of headaches. Ever since that incident happened, his luck was getting thinner by the minute. His whole world was getting badder than it already is.

All the doctors and nurse all gave him bad looks but some pitied him. It'd still very unclear what the problem was. He still had not figured out what he did wrong.

Looking at him now, he looked like a starving man, of which he was.

The hospital couldn't provide him any type of blood because of Kaname's orders. As one of the doctor's told Kaien. Kaname had stated that,

"I want that level E to feel the pain that he caused on Yuki. If anyone of you are foolish enough to give him blood, that will be committing treason."

Zero's face was filled with nothing but a blank stare. The stare of a dead corpse. The stare of the unhappy. The stare of the broken.

As his mind was still processing those dark thoughts, the door suddenly opened. It revealed a young teen with blond hair and emerald eyes. His smile lighted up the gloomy room and filled it with warmness that it was missing.

In the young man's hand was a small gift that was wrap in purple and green ribbions. He also was holding a bouquet of lilies.

The echoing of his shoes made a soft, Tap...Tap as he walked into the room. Strolling slowly to the hospital bed with hesitation, the young man place the small bouquet of flowers near the bed.

The young man placed his hands on his lover's pale ones and gave it a light squeeze. The small impact didn't seem to affect Zero much, so he instead of just sitting there, he began to speak in a hush but cheerful voice.

"Zero I brought you something today! I thought you might like it..."

Still seeing the emotionless face not even twitch, he still continued.

"It's made out of fine paper and was one of the most expensivest in the market. I thought you might like it!"

Still seeing the silverette not stir, his merry atomsphere was quickly replaced by a more serious and sad one.

His sparkling green eyes were now a dark, hollow forest green. His body went stiffer and his smile had started to fade.

"Zero...I'm sorry. I'm sorry for not able to do anything. I had promised I would protect you but... Oh I'm so sorry."

Those words seemingly pieced through Zero's already broken heart but instead of making it wrost, it started to stitch up all the holes and wounds that were left by all those other people.

Zero's fingers gave a slight twitch in Takuma's big hands. Being a vampire, Takuma felt the small acceptance and forgiveness.

That brought the young Aristocrat to tears. Light feather-like tears fell from the blond's face to Zero's cold hands.

"Thank you... Thank you... I'm so sorry. I promise you this time, I will protect you. I won't let anyone hurt you, Zero. I promise."

Zero's eyes began to show light. The shine that they use to have were coming back little-by-little.

Takuma leaned over and embraced his lover in a tight warm hug. Zero pats and rubs the blond vampire's back.

As the two were having their moments they didn't seem to see the headmaster just outside the room, spying on them. He left with a small sigh believing that everything will be okay.

--------------A FEW DAYS LATER-------------

The tension in the room that was currently preoccupied by Zero, was filled with light-hearted laughs and happiness. It was like that incident never happened. Smiles where presented on the couples faces. Blushes and jokes were bouncing around the walls.

"How are you so sure that Kaien and Master are going out?"

"Oh I just know!" Small giggles ecasped the older vampires mouth as he saw a pout form from the other vampire's lips.

The younger vampire started to scribble some jumbled up words on the notebook that Takuma had given him as a present for waking up and recovering. It was a good notebook. Hell it was better than all his own. It has lots of pages for him to write all the things he wan to say on paper. It was useful, yes but it made him feel shameful because he was no longer good enough for Takuma... With no voice and unable to speak, he felt so hopeless.

Those thoughts were blocked out when he saw Takuma blush. His face was a complete shade of crimson.

"I saw them...ummm...having sex...in the halls..."

Zero's face had a full-blown grin on his face. He felt so happy for them.

He was about to write something on his notebook but he felt his stomach start to turn. He could feel the food that he ate coming up. Before Takuma could ask what was wrong, Zero bolted out of the bed and raced to the small bathroom.

Getting there, he sat on his knees and started to puke out all the waste into the toilet bowl. He hurled all the food that he ate out. After many rounds of barfing, he gave one final hurl and shuddered as he fell to the stone floor.

Beads of sweat trailed down his face and tears were at the corner of his eyes. He felt his world slowly start to fade away. As the room started to get darker, he saw Takuma and some doctors come in. But it was to late, he had already closed his eyes.

-----------------HOURS LATER-------------------

He could hear the bird chirping in the distance. He could hear the breathing of another being next to his bed. Who is he? Why is he here? What happen?

Finally fully opening his eyes he saw the person next to him was none other than Takuma.

Sitting up he started to play with his lover's soft locks. Trying not to wake him up, he quietly tried to get up, but failed.

Once Zero was finally comfortablely seated, Takuma's face turned serious.

Sensing the shifted atmosphere, Zero looked up frowning. Now what... What he was about hear was not what he expected.

He signaled Takuma to say what he needed to say.

"Zero, I don't know how to say this but...you're pregnant."
