"My-my what?" I stammered.
"I'm your guardian." He said. "I have been ever since Manny tried to make you a guardian two years ago."
"Excuse me?? What do you mean make me a guardian?" I almost-shouted.
"Shh keep your voice down," Jack said. "No one else can see me."
"So you're just in my head?"
"No they just don't believe in me." He seemed almost pained as he spoke those words. He took an exasperated breath and said: "may I continue?"
"Y-yes." I stammered.
"Anyway, as I was saying before, two years ago, Manny tired to make you a guardian. Do you remember, right around your twelfth birthday when you felt a connection with the moon somehow?"
"Yeesssss....but wait, I thought that was just because I had been watching Avatar: The last Airbender a lot and I was just trying to convince myself I was a waterbender?"
"Yes...and no. You see, manny wanted to make you a guardian because you forced yourself to believe. You wanted it all to be true."
"I had known there was going to be a full moon on my birthday," I interrupted. "So I guess I made up all these conspiracies that I thought applied to me. I just wanted to escape reality. Isn't that normal?" I asked.
"No, Amelia. Most people at your age had learned to accept reality. That's what made you so special. You didn't."
"No." I said. "I just didn't want to."
"That's beside the point. Look, the point is, manny tried to make you a guardian."
"Why didn't he?"
"He did, it just didn't work. You have to be immortal to be a guardian. So after that failed, Manny said we should wait a while, and North told me to watch over you. And I have."
"So wait, manny wanted to make me a guardian because I believed? Everyone believes in something. What made me so different?"
The thing was, you didn't just believe in anything, you believed in-"
"JACK!" Someone screamed. And then something started glowing in Jacks palm. I looked closer and I realized it was a tiny strand. Like...hair almost. Jack stood up and looked around, then turned around to face me. "Sorry Amelia," he said. "But explanations will have to be later." He bent his knees ready to jump in the sky when a giant glowing blonde mass of something hit him in the back and pushed him on the ground in from of me. I immediately jumped up and scooted away. The blonde mass stood up and I recognized it as a girl with big bright green eyes and the blonde mass that just happened to be her hair, arranging itself back into a just-brushed position. Jack stood up and turned around to face the girl.
"Ra-Rapunzel? What are you doing here?" Then a bright blue blast shot into the sky and burst like I firework before disappearing. Jacks face suddenly froze in terror.
"Oh no."
