"Oh my---Celeste! Thank God!" Mom shouts, tears running down her cheeks.

"Mom," I say. Colton sets me down.

He carried me all the way home. I don't know how he managed it, but he did. I felt safe and comfortable in his arms. So, when he set me down, I was a little sad. But I got over that quickly.

My mom crashed into me and smothered me in kisses. I hope she isn't wearing her red lipstick! My dad joined us soon after and hugged both of us at once.

"I'm so, extremely glad you did not get kidnapped Celeste....But where on earth were you?!" My dad looks at me seriously.

"I....." I glanced quickly over at Colton.; my parents didn't see though. "I think I passed out on the way home....I threw up and wasn't feeling well, so I wanted to walk home and get some fresh air at the same time. And that's why Madison told me about this shortcut I could take through the woods."

I don't know why I lied, I just felt like I needed to figure out what, exactly, had happened before telling them.

"Okay, honey" My mom looks at me, frowning. "Do you need to go to the doctor?"

"No, no, I feel fine now. Don't worry guys." I say.

Dad gives me a skeptical look. "Well, alright" he says "I'll give the sheriff a call and let him know we found you....Oh, and thank you very much, mister Dawson for your help. If there's any way we can do to repay you, please let us know." He says to Colton and heads into the house.

Mom gives me one last hug. "Do you want to still go to school this afternoon?"

"Sure." I reply. I don't think it would be good to miss much more, I already missed one hour yesterday and an entire morning's worth today.

"Okay, well, get ready and I'll take you." She smiles and walks into the house.

I sigh and look over at Colton. "Thanks for finding me by the way."

"Sure." He says, trying not to laugh.

"You know--" I stop myself. I don't think I should talk to him about what I saw either. "Umm--I mean, I'll see you at school then?"

"Yeah, I was just going to leave after." He explains, trying to hide his grin.

What is he smiling about?

"Okay" I say "Well, see you then." I wave and walk quickly into the house.

I go to the bathroom and look in the mirror. And all of the sudden I know why he was smiling...my face was covered in smears of bright red lipstick.

So, I take a quick shower and comb out all the knots in my hair and put on some light makeup and comfortable clothes.

"Celeste? Are you ready?" Moms calls up.

"Yep! Be right down!" I call back.

I swing my bag over my shoulder and run down the stairs, trying my best not to trip. I rush out the door and into the truck, where my mom's waiting for me.
