I got at school right when the bell rang for the end of lunch break. I pull out my schedule to see what's next: History. Yippee, maybe I'll get to take a short nap; wink, wink.
I jog to the classroom where people are still filing in. I'm glad I'm not last again. I walk over to the teachers desk, where a tall woman with black curly hair and pink glasses is writing something down in a notebook.
"Hi" I say.
She looks up. "Hello." She says "You must be the new one."
"Yeah, I am." I reply. "Um where should I sit?" I ask.
"Oh, just sit in any spot that's not taken." She tells me and gestures to the classroom.
I turn around and notice the classroom is already full, wow that didn't take very long. Colton's here, sitting at a spot near the window next to a guy that looks like he needs a tissue. And behind him, is the one and only empty spot in the classroom.
I smile at the teacher. "Thank you." I say, and walk over to the empty seat and sit down.
Next to me is another guy with sandy blond hair. I notice his muscular arms showing through his tight long-sleeved shirt. And his mole on the upper left side of his lip. He's cute ; I think to myself.
I get out my pencil case and books out of my bag as the teacher starts to present herself. I forgot her name as soon as she said it, so that's a good start. She starts talking about what we should've already seen last year, what we will be seeing this year, etc.
I start to scribble something on the corner of my page.
"Like to draw?" The guy next to me asks.
I look up. "Uh...yeah." I whisper back.
"I don't... Actually, it's not that I don't, it's more that I just suck, so I don't." He whispers, laughing a little. I laugh too.
"Come on, you can't be that bad." I say.
"I am." He says, sure of himself. "If we have art together, I'll show you. And you'll understand." He tells me.
"Okay." I say
"By the way," He whispers leaning closer to me. "My name's Thorn, friends call me T."
Thorn. Weird name. But kind of cool, I guess.
"I'm Celeste." I say. He reaches out to shake my hand. And I reach out to shake his; but when our fingers touch, it's like an electric current shocks me and I pull back and yelp.
"Miss Meyer, can I help you?!" Mrs. I-Don't-Remember-Her-Name asks.
"No." I reply, shyly. Still rubbing my hand.
"Then listen, please." She says and goes back to what she was talking about before my interruption.
I look over at Thorn, but he's not looking at me at all. He's looking right at the back of Colton's head.
"Pssst--" I whisper to him. He doesn't respond though, and it was like that for the rest of the hour.

Finally, after not listening to a single thing the teacher said for 39 minutes, the bell rings. The sound is so loud, I have to cover my ears for 15 seconds. Thorn glances in my direction for half a second then, gets up quickly and leaves the class first.
I get up and pack my stuff. Colton's already gone too, so I guess I can't talk to him yet. I head out the door to look for Madison and the others, wondering what the hell just happened to me.
