"Hello class, we have a new student who will be joining us; his name is Sampson. Please, introduce yourself" the old bearded teacher said in a hoarse, but kind voice
"Like he said, my name is Sampson and I'm in this class. It's best if we leave it at that" I responded to the class of varied students and moved to a seat near the window
I stared around the room, behind me were some of the assholes that get humour from irritating others. Ahead were some girls whispering, most likely about me. And next to me, were some kids trying to learn, and some goth kids were next to them.
This would be interesting.
Before I knew it, the bell for lunch rang. Everyone swarmed out of the stuffy room and headed off to their own groups and seats. Whilst I was left to sit by myself, although I didn't care that much, I was an open target for anyone and everyone. I felt like an animal at the zoo; everyone was looking at me, some threw items to make me react. I guess that's the life at high school.
I pulled out a packet of crisps and began to eat, my foster parents were a nice couple that didn't know how to take charge. I guess they were lucky to have me in a way, rather that a disobedient kid like the ones in my previous class.
I looked up after seeing a pair of large feet on the ground a few feet away from me, it was those kids.
"What?" I questioned
"We saw you looking at us in class" one of the three said
"And?"
"We dont like being stared at" the middle one said
"Didn't your parents tell you that staring is rude?" The other said
"My parents are dead " I said blandly
The three were silent for a moment
"Jack, I don't-"
The middle one, who I assumed was Jack, elbowed The other for piping up
"Lying is bad y'know" Jack growled
"I wish I was lying" I mumbled
"Jack I think he's being-"
"Shut up Dylan" the one on the left interrupted
Jack took a step forward
"Even if you aren't lying, I still don't like you"
"Ok then, now please just leave me alone" I said defensively
Before I could even think, jacks fist had collided with my face; ultimately pushing me off the bench chair and hitting the ground head first.
By the time I managed to stand, Jack had already sent me back down; this time he winded me. I tried to stand but I couldn't, I was gasping for air and clenching onto my gut. A swarm of students circled around and began to film us, typical. But I couldn't worry about that now, I had jack. He began to walk away, was this the end? Was this it? No, he turned around and began to run towards me before jumping up and slamming down onto my torso. I couldn't breath, I couldn't see, I didn't even know if I was conscious.
There was silence. I struggled to open my eyes, but when I did; I was at home with my 'family'.
"Linda, Ryan?" I called to them in a croaky voice
Not long after my call, I heard one of them come running up the carpeted stairs
"Sam, you're up!" Ryan said with a nervous smile printed onto his face
I nodded in response.
Ryan let out a sigh and sat on the end of my bed
"You won't be at school for a few days due to the injuries you received from the boy, he is going to be sent to court. So you have that to look forward to" he said, with this time a nervous laugh
I never understood why he was always so nervous.
"Was I out for long?" I asked
"Only a few hours this time, not years" he said with yet, another nervous chuckle
I nodded.
"Where's Linda?" I asked after a moments pause
"Oh-I'll go get her!" Ryan said, perking up at her name
Ryan got up and left the room.
I let out a sigh and pulled up my shirt, I had a few bruises around my ribs and a large couple on my gut. I was lucky not to have any broken bones.
"Sammy, honey?" Linda said, walking into the room
I had always liked Linda more, she was confident and kind, unlike the nervous wreck that was Ryan.
"Linda" I responded
"Are you ok sweetie?" She asked kindly
"I've been worse"
She nodded before coming over, grabbing a mug from my side table and leaving a kiss on my forehead.
"If you need me just call ok? Don't try to get up, just rest. Your ds and phone are on the side table if you need them." Linda said as she walked over to the door
"I'll make you a cup of tea to help calm you down" she added before leaving
Linda was very interested in herbs and natural medicines, they worked at times,  but proper medicines would always be better. I guess I was lucky that they weren't vegetarians.
I rolled over with a sigh and closed my eyes, even though I had just woken up; I was tired. And before I knew it, I was fast asleep.
