My mom had recently moved us to North Carolina because of her new job. I mean it was great here. My neighbor has a daughter named Ashley who is really nice. She also gave me the idea to request having the same classes as her when I go to enroll to school.
But as cool as this place was I can't help but be upset about leaving my old friends. And being a very socially awkward person is tough when you have to move and make new friends.
But I decided to start off my first day at this new school trying to be invisible which was working until I got lost going to my first class. Luckily I got help from a girl who was watching me wander around the halls aimlessly.
"Do you need help getting to class," she says. I look at her and nod shyly.
"Can I see your schedule. Maybe we have some classes together," she says and I hand her my schedule. Her eyes widen and I start to question why.
"What's wrong," I ask.
"We have literally have like all of the same classes. Well except for one. When you have your band class I have gym," she says and leads the way to our first class.
"What's your name," I ask.
"I'm Ansley," she says
"I'm Y/n," I say.
*A couple of class periods later*
I finally make it out of band class with a bunch of kids who were impressed with my elite playing. So far everything was great. I walked everywhere with Ansley and when I got out if this class she was waiting for me so we could go to lunch.
We walk past this big group of girls surrounding what I could only assume is either a locker or a person I don't know. I was very fascinated with how people were so invested in being with this object or person. Ansley saw me staring and leaned over to inform me on what was happening.
"They're all friends and groupies of Hayes Grier. He's like one of the most popular guy in school. He's like a triple threat... or like a double threat. He's athletic and hot as hell. But as for the third which would be personality I wouldn't know because I've never heard him talk to anyone but his friends it the next girl he's trying to swoon which has oddly never happened to me," she says looking at herself in her locker mirror. She turns around and pouts looking at me
"I'm cute right," she asks and I'm caught off guard.
"Uh yes of course you are," I say looking at her weirdly.
"Then how come Hayes doesn't wanna talk to me," she says jokingly.
"Well your guess is as good as mine. You're way pretty than me so if you haven't gotten your turn yet then I'm definitely not up yet," I say joking. This guy doesn't even know my name or that I exist so why would he wanna talk to me.
"You're kidding right? Compared to all of the girls here you're a ten. When Hayes sees you he's gonna be all over you," she says and I raise my eyebrows questioningly. We continue to walk and soon we're sitting at her usual table for lunch.
"Where are your friends at," I ask.
"My friends go to different schools and girls here are very rude and fake so no friends here," she says taking her packed lunch and starting to eat. I do the same and I look around examining the people in the lunchroom. It was literally just like a stereotypical high school movie. Every person fit in somewhere.
As I examine the groups of people I am met with blue eyes at the table across from me. I raise my eye brow and look at Ansley who is too into a book to be paying attention. When I look back at the guy I see that he is not staring at me but he's staring at another girl. He winks at her and as she walks away he stares at her butt.
