I was yet again at Hayes' house lounging around before I had to go back to my house. I walk into the living room and plop down on the couch next to Hayes who was thinking awfully hard.
"Hey babe, whatcha thinking about," I ask.
"I was thinking about how we've been dating for six months," he says.
"Aww that's cute," I say and he sighs.
"How come I've never met your parents," he asks and I tense up. My parents died a while back. They both were hit by a drunk driver and they both were pronounced dead at the scene. The man is now in jail for drunk driving on many occasions and hurting many people in those processes. I live in a group home which is why Hayes has never been over to my house or met my parents. Of course he doesn't know this because I don't want him to think of me as a charity case.
"Well I kind of don't see my parents as often as I would like to so that's why. I'm gonna go get some snacks for us," I said getting up and walking to the kitchen. I walk in and see Elizabeth in there.
"Hey Liz," I sat sitting on the counter.
"Hey boo what's up," she says and I sigh.
"I need to talk," I say playing with my fingers.
"Is it about your parents," she says concerned. She knows all about my parents because I had met her before Hayes. She had saw me wandering aimlessly around the hospital and helped me find their room to say my final goodbyes. She had stayed with me through a lot of stuff that I was going through and treated me like her own child and when she finally let me meet the others she told me that Hayes was a big flirt and that he was going to make me fall hard. Six months later here we are, dating.
"Yeah. Hayes just asked me why he's never met my parents. I hate lying to him but I don't want him to think that I'm broken or that I'm just some little orphan kid who he just so happened to be going out with. And on top of that all of the other girls at my group home hate me because I'm dating Hayes and they think he's the hottest guy in the school," I rant and she shakes her head at the last statement I made.
"Hayes is just curious. I would be too considering he's known you for almost a year and has been dating you for most of that time with knowing anything about your parents. And about the other thing, better things will come," she says handing me some snacks so that Hayes isn't suspicious. I walk back to him and throw the snacks at him and sit down. We cuddle into each other and stay silent for the rest of the movie.
After it was over Liz told me that she would take me home and Hayes was already asleep so I kiss him on the forehead and left. I feelings of guilt settled in my stomach that night after she dropped me off.
Before I get out of the car Liz grabs my hand.
"Everything will be okay soon," she says and I look confused but I get out of the car.
*A Month Later*
Today I made plans with Hayes to go on a date type thing. So Liz picks me up and takes me to her house where Hayes was waiting for me.As soon as we get there Hayes is ready to leave so Liz drives us to the main plaza where everything like the movies were. We go straight to the movies. While waiting for the movie to start Hayes talks to me.
"How's school for you," he asks and I giggle.
"It's pretty good how about you," I ask.
"It's actually going great thanks to you helping me understand some things I don't," he says and I smile.
