Epilogue

A new newspaper company called the Daily Bugle was moving its main branch to Gotham City. The job was looking for a part time photographer dedicated to superheroes, particularly Spider-Man. The pay was well and Peter figured if anybody could take photos of Spider-Man, it was him.

Out of the corner of his eye, buried within the vials and beakers Aunt May and Uncle Ben was a cure based off Curt's cure. A cure that would remove the trace elements of Spider DNA within his body.

It had been months since the Otto incident. Months with the usual Arkham break outs. Months with the originally inactive Gotham mafia getting bolder. Spider-Man wasn't out of the water yet.

Aunt May knocked his door. "Peter, there's someone here to see you."

Peter got out of his room. After they had caught Otto, Aunt May wasn't her usual self. It took a lot of talks and a lot of time spent together to get her back to her usual smiling self. Peter wasn't the only person Otto had scarred.

"Who is it?" Peter asked.

"That's a surprise."

That piqued Peter's interest. As far as he knew the only friend he had in Gotham was Barbara and Aunt May wouldn't be so coy if it was her.

Peter went to the door. For some reason there was something blocking the peephole. Peter turned to Aunt May, who, to her credit was calmly baking some pancakes while humming something.

Peter opened the door and was immediately enveloped in a bear hug by two people that brought a massive grin on his face.

"Face it tiger, you just hit the jackpot!" Harry Osborne and Mary Jane Watson said simultaneously, their grips so tight it almost caused Peter to fall over.

...

The GCPD building where Connors was held was just a few blocks away from Jason's school (a public school and not bougie one like Bruce promised). There were still some issues to be determined concerning his trial, namely whether or not his Lizard form could be considered another distinct legal person or whether it fell under the umbrella term of mentally ill actions. Either way, Jason knew he wouldn't survive a day in Blackgate and the lawyer Murdock was making sure he wouldn't see those halls.

It was easy to sneak in. Easy to find the ventilation tunnels and easy to find Connor's cell. He emerged in front of Connor's, mask on. Connor was still staring at the walls, it still seemed like he could barely register what was going on.

This was stupid, this was so stupid. But he had to do it.

Jason took out the mask, put on his hoodie. He appeared in front of Connors.

Connors stirred. "Please. I've given all I have," he said, his voice hoarse. "I have nothing more to share with you."

"No," Jason said. "It's not that. I..."

Jason kicked his feet like a stupid little boy. Finally, he mustered up the courage to meet his eyes. "I just want to know if you remember me."

Jason showed him his face. It took a while for Connors to register, minutes Jason felt were stupid. Minutes where he felt like just a stupid kid but when he registered his face, Connors smiled.

"The Red Hoodie," Connors said. "Of course I remember you."

Jason was relieved. He didn't know how much he needed to hear those words.

"You took care of me," Connors said. "You didn't have to but you did. I'm so thankful that you did."

Jason was going to leave then. But then he realised, this man, this man was a father.
